Pear Cut Moissanite Wide Bezel Sculpted Claw Solitaire Ring

A pear cut moissanite sitting inside a broad, deep cup of polished metal that follows the outline of the stone and extends well beyond it on every side. Six sculpted claws with pointed leaf shaped tips reach in over the edge of the stone from the rim of that cup. The band is a plain round wire that meets the cup on a raised join, so the whole head sits proud of the finger like a piece cast in one solid block.

There are no accent stones. The design is entirely about the mass of the metal: a wide bright surface surrounding the stone that reflects light on its own and makes the pear read considerably larger from a distance than its carat weight alone would suggest.

Why the point is protected

The tip of a pear is the most vulnerable part of the shape, and here it sits inside a solid wall of metal with a claw over it as well. Between the cup and the claw there is very little of the stone exposed at the point. If you want maximum protection for a pear, this and our full bezel three stone ring are the two designs to look at.

How it compares to our other bold pear rings

Every design is listed separately. Our bezel set baguette three stone ring uses a thin bezel that hugs the stone closely and sits low, with two step cut side stones. This one is the opposite: a thick cup that extends past the stone, no side stones at all, and a high profile that you feel on the finger. Our polished split shank solitaire keeps the same plain band but opens it up and uses a small setting instead. This is the biggest and boldest head in our pear range.

Metals and sizes

Choose from 925 sterling silver, or 10K, 14K and 18K gold in yellow, rose and white. All gold is solid, never plated and never filled. White gold is rhodium finished. Because there is so much metal on show, the colour dominates this design more than any other in our pear range; yellow gold, shown here, is the boldest of the three.

Centre stone sizes run from 2 carat to 5 carat. The cup scales with the stone, so a 5 carat version of this ring is a genuinely large piece of jewellery. It is worth being sure that is what you want.

Made to order in our own workshop

Mapple Gems is a family run workshop in Surat, India. Every ring is made by our own team after you order. The cup is formed and its face filed absolutely flat before the claws are shaped, because on a surface this wide any waviness shows immediately in the reflection. It is finished with a high mirror polish by hand.

Care

Moissanite is 9.25 on the Mohs scale and takes daily wear well. Clean with warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft brush. A broad polished surface shows fingerprints and fine scratches sooner than a textured one; a soft cloth restores the shine, and we can repolish the piece properly any time. Have the six claws checked once a year.

Resizing

The shank is a plain round wire, so this ring resizes easily by two sizes or more in either direction.

Questions people ask

Is the centre stone a diamond? No. It is moissanite, a gemstone in its own right, and we never describe it as a diamond.

Is a high profile ring practical? It catches on gloves and pockets more than a low setting does, and it is not the ring for someone who works with their hands all day. In exchange you get a design with real presence. Be honest with yourself about which matters more.

Which way does the pear point? Toward the fingertip as standard, which is what lengthens the finger. Tell us in the order notes if you want it the other way.

Can I wear a wedding band with it? The cup overhangs the band, so a straight wedding band will sit against the shank with a visible gap under the head. Many people wear this one on its own, which is how it is designed to look.

Does the price change with carat size? Yes. The 2 carat is the base price and each larger size adds a small amount. The exact price appears when you select a combination.
