Pear Cut Moissanite Classic Six Claw Slim Band Solitaire Ring

A pear cut moissanite held in six rounded claws on a plain, slim, perfectly round band. There is nothing else. No accents, no halo, no engraving, no texture, no split in the shank, no milgrain. This is the plainest ring in our entire pear range and it is meant to be.

Because the band is narrow, about 1.6 mm, and completely unadorned, the stone looks larger than it does on a heavier ring at the same carat weight. The six claws are small and rounded so they hold the stone securely without covering much of it, and the shank runs at the same slim width the whole way round the finger.

Why the point is protected

The tip of a pear is the most vulnerable part of the shape. Ours sits under a claw that wraps around it rather than a plain prong resting on top. It is the difference between a point that survives a decade of daily wear and one that chips on a door frame in the first year, and it is not something we treat as optional.

How it compares to our other plain pear rings

Every design is listed separately, and we make several rings with no accent stones. Our slim bezel solitaire uses the same narrow band but wraps the stone in a rim of metal instead of claws. Our polished split shank opens the band into two arms. Our wide flat band puts the same stone on a 4 mm square edged shank. This one is the simplest and the least expensive of them all, because there is genuinely the least work in it.

If you are choosing between them: claws show the most stone and let the most light in from the sides; a bezel protects best; a split shank adds shape; a wide band adds presence. This ring adds nothing and takes nothing away.

Metals and sizes

Choose from 925 sterling silver, or 10K, 14K and 18K gold in yellow, rose and white. All gold is solid, never plated and never filled. White gold is rhodium finished. On a design this bare the metal colour is the only decision besides the stone, and it changes the ring completely. Centre stone sizes run from 2 carat to 5 carat, and a large stone on a slim band is the combination that reads biggest of anything we make.

Made to order in our own workshop

Mapple Gems is a family run workshop in Surat, India. Every ring is made by our own team after you order. A plain ring is where poor work shows most: there is no pattern to hide behind, so the shank has to be a true circle, the claws evenly spaced and identically shaped, and the polish flawless. We would rather you judge us on this one than on anything more decorated.

Care

Moissanite is 9.25 on the Mohs scale and takes daily wear well. Clean with warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft brush, working underneath the open basket. Rinse and dry with a soft cloth. Have the six claws checked once a year. With no pave and no halo, there is very little on this ring that can go wrong.

Resizing

The band is plain the whole way round, so this ring resizes very easily, by three sizes or more in either direction. It is the most adjustable design we make.

Questions people ask

Is the centre stone a diamond? No. It is moissanite, a gemstone in its own right, and we never describe it as a diamond.

Is a 1.6 mm band strong enough? Yes for normal daily wear, in any of our metals. If you work with your hands all day or are unusually hard on jewellery, one of our 2 mm or wider designs will hold its shape better over decades.

Which way does the pear point? Toward the fingertip as standard, which is what lengthens the finger. Tell us in the order notes if you want it the other way.

Can I wear a wedding band with it? Yes, and this is the easiest ring in our range to pair. The slim plain shank sits flush against almost any band. There will be a small gap under the point of the pear, as with any pear solitaire.

Does the price change with carat size? Yes. The 2 carat is the base price and each larger size adds a small amount. The exact price appears when you select a combination.
