Pear Cut Moissanite Scalloped Milgrain Pave Engagement Ring

A pear cut moissanite in six claws on a slim band that carries a row of graduated pave along each shoulder. The stones are set into a scalloped edge, meaning the metal between them is cut into a series of small arcs rather than a straight line, and a fine milgrain bead runs along the outer rim of those arcs. The accents get smaller as they travel away from the centre and stop cleanly partway round.

The scallop is what makes this different from ordinary pave. Instead of a solid wall of metal beside the stones there is a scalloped profile that catches its own highlight, so the row reads as a decorative border rather than a plain line of sparkle. It is a detail from antique jewellery and it is easy to miss until you look closely.

Why the point is protected

The tip of a pear is the most vulnerable part of the shape. Ours sits under a claw that wraps around it rather than a plain prong resting on top. It is the difference between a point that survives a decade of daily wear and one that chips on a door frame in the first year, and it is not something we treat as optional.

Metals and sizes

Choose from 925 sterling silver, or 10K, 14K and 18K gold in yellow, rose and white. All gold is solid, never plated and never filled. White gold is rhodium finished. Yellow gold, shown here, gives the scalloped edge a visible warm outline around each stone; white gold lets the pave read as one continuous line of light. Centre stone sizes run from 2 carat to 5 carat.

Made to order in our own workshop

Mapple Gems is a family run workshop in Surat, India. Every ring is made by our own team after you order. Scalloping is cut after the stones are seated but before the beads are raised, and the milgrain is applied last with a knurling wheel run along the arc of each scallop by hand. It is fiddly, slow work on a band this narrow, and it is the difference between a ring that looks antique and one that looks like it is trying to.

Care

Moissanite is 9.25 on the Mohs scale and takes daily wear well. Clean with warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft brush, giving attention to the underside of the pave where residue collects. Rinse and dry with a soft cloth. Have the pave beads checked once a year; on a graduated row the smallest stones at the outer end are the ones worth looking at.

Resizing

The pave stops well before the back of the shank, so this ring resizes comfortably by two sizes or more without disturbing any setting.

Questions people ask

Is the centre stone a diamond? No. Every stone in this ring is moissanite, a gemstone in its own right, and we never describe it as a diamond.

Will the milgrain wear flat? The beading softens gradually over many years of wear. It can be rebeaded, and most people like the softened look by the time it happens.

Which way does the pear point? Toward the fingertip as standard, which is what lengthens the finger. Tell us in the order notes if you want it the other way.

Can I wear a wedding band with it? Yes, and it sits well. The band is slim and the pave finishes early, so a straight band meets plain metal cleanly. There will still be a small gap under the point of the pear.

Does the price change with carat size? Yes. The 2 carat is the base price and each larger size adds a small amount. The exact price appears when you select a combination.
