Pear Cut Moissanite Flat Engraved Scroll Milgrain Band Ring

A pear cut moissanite in six claws on a band with a flat outer face, engraved along its whole visible length with a continuous scroll. Milgrain beading runs down both edges of that flat face, framing the pattern like a border, and a single raised bead sits at each shoulder where the engraving meets the setting.

Because the face is flat rather than rounded, the pattern lies open to the light instead of curving away from it, so the engraving reads clearly from directly above. That is the practical difference between this and a carved rounded shank, and it is why a flat band suits a continuous repeating scroll better than a rounded one does.

Why the point is protected

The tip of a pear is the most vulnerable part of the shape. Ours sits under a claw that wraps around it rather than a plain prong resting on top. It is the difference between a point that survives a decade of daily wear and one that chips on a door frame in the first year, and it is not something we treat as optional.

How it compares to our other engraved pear rings

Every design is listed separately, and two of ours are hand engraved without stones. Our baroque scroll solitaire carves a heavier, deeper flourish into a rounded shoulder and stops partway round, leaving the back of the shank plain and smooth. This one uses a flat faced band, a lighter and more regular repeating scroll, milgrain down both edges rather than around a shoulder, and carries the pattern much further round the finger. One is dramatic; this one is even and architectural. Our vintage leaf and vine ring adds flush set accents to its carving; this design has none.

Metals and sizes

Choose from 925 sterling silver, or 10K, 14K and 18K gold in yellow, rose and white. All gold is solid, never plated and never filled. White gold is rhodium finished. Engraving reads most strongly in yellow and rose gold, where the carved shadows are darker; in white gold and silver the scroll becomes a fine texture rather than a bold pattern. Centre stone sizes run from 2 carat to 5 carat.

Made to order in our own workshop

Mapple Gems is a family run workshop in Surat, India. Every ring is made by our own team after you order. On a flat face there is nowhere for a wandering graver to hide, so the scroll has to be laid out and cut evenly around the whole circumference before the milgrain edges go on. It is slower than carving a rounded shoulder and it is the reason this design takes a little longer to make.

Care

Moissanite is 9.25 on the Mohs scale and takes daily wear well. Clean with warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft brush, working into the carved grooves and along the milgrain where lotion and soap collect. Rinse and dry with a soft cloth. Avoid abrasive polishes, which round off the crisp edges of the engraving and flatten the beading. We can recut the pattern and rebead the edges years from now.

Resizing

The engraving runs most of the way round, so resizing means recutting the pattern where the band is joined. We can adjust by about one to two sizes and blend the join. A larger change is better handled by remaking, so please be as accurate as you can with your size.

Questions people ask

Is the centre stone a diamond? No. It is moissanite, a gemstone in its own right, and we never describe it as a diamond.

Does a flat band feel different to wear? Yes. A flat outer face with milgrain edges sits a little more firmly than a fully rounded band. The inside edge is comfort rounded so it is not sharp against the finger.

Which way does the pear point? Toward the fingertip as standard, which is what lengthens the finger. Tell us in the order notes if you want it the other way.

Can I wear a wedding band with it? Yes, and a plain flat band pairs neatly with this one because the profiles match. There will be a small gap under the point of the pear.

Does the price change with carat size? Yes. The 2 carat is the base price and each larger size adds a small amount. The exact price appears when you select a combination.
