The stone sits inside a low bezel edged with fine milgrain, with a claw folded over each corner. Below that the shoulders carry a deep scroll pattern cut into the surface of the metal, framed top and bottom by a second line of beading. The scrollwork is solid, not pierced, so it catches light as relief rather than showing daylight through it.

The engraving runs down the shoulders and then stops, leaving the back of the band plain and comfortable.

How it compares

Our hand engraved scroll band emerald ring uses the same kind of engraving but holds the stone in plain claws with nothing around the girdle. This one adds the milgrain bezel, which frames the stone and ties it to the beading on the band, so the whole ring reads as one piece rather than a plain head sitting on a decorated band. Why an emerald cut

Antique settings were built around step cuts before the modern brilliant existed. An emerald cut in a milgrain bezel is close to what a 1920s ring actually looked like, which is why this combination still feels correct rather than costume.

Mapple Gems is a family run workshop in Surat. The scroll is cut into the metal with a graver after casting, one line at a time, and the milgrain is raised afterwards. Hand engraving is never identical between two rings, which is the point of it. Every ring is made after you order, usually within 16 to 20 working days.

Care

Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft brush. Engraving holds polish and cream, so rinse thoroughly. Avoid ultrasonic cleaners, which soften fine milgrain over time.

Questions buyers ask

Will the engraving wear away
It is cut deep rather than stamped, so it lasts. The high points soften over many years, which most people prefer to a pattern that stays sharp forever.

Why put claws on a bezel
To keep the corners of the emerald cut visible. A plain rim would round the outline and lose the shape of the stone.

Can this ring be resized
Yes, by one to two sizes, at the back where the band is plain. Resizing further would run into the engraving.

Is moissanite hard enough for daily wear
Yes. Moissanite is 9.25 on the Mohs scale, second only to diamond among stones used in jewellery.

Which finger sizes are available
