Emerald Cut Moissanite Double Milgrain Bezel Split Shank Engagement Ring

An emerald cut moissanite held in a full octagonal bezel whose wall flares outwards as it rises, so the frame is wider at the top than where it meets the band. Milgrain runs along both edges of that wall, top and bottom, which is why the outline looks beaded from every angle rather than only from above.

Below the setting the shank divides into two slim arms that curve apart, each one edged with its own line of milgrain, before rejoining into a plain rounded band at the back. There are no accent stones anywhere on this ring. Every bit of detail is worked into the metal.

How it compares to our other bezel emerald cut rings

Every design is listed separately, and we have four bezels in this range, so the differences matter. Our single milgrain bezel has one beaded rim on a solid 1.6 mm wire, no split and no flare. Our eternity bezel sits on a wide triple row pave band. Our half bezel grips only the long sides and leaves both ends of the stone open. This one is the only bezel with a flared wall, milgrain on both rims and a split shank, and it is the only one of the four that uses no accent stones at all. It is the quietest and the most architectural.

Metals and sizes

Choose from 925 sterling silver, or 10K, 14K and 18K gold in yellow, rose and white. All gold is solid, never plated and never filled. White gold is rhodium finished. Yellow gold is shown here, and with no accent stones anywhere the metal colour is the entire character of the ring, so it is worth thinking carefully about which one you want. Centre stone sizes run from 2 carat to 5 carat.

Made to order in our own workshop

Mapple Gems is a family run workshop in Surat, India. Every ring is made by our own team after you order. A flared bezel is harder to make than a straight one because the wall has to be raised and then closed onto the stone at an angle without the milgrain distorting, and the beading itself is cut by hand with a knurling wheel afterwards. If you would prefer a straight bezel wall, or milgrain on the top edge only, tell us in the order notes before we begin.

Care

Moissanite is 9.25 on the Mohs scale and takes daily wear well. Clean with warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft brush. Milgrain holds more lotion and soap than a plain edge does, so work the brush gently along every beaded line and through the gap in the split shank, then rinse well and dry with a soft cloth. There are no claws to check and no pave to loosen, which makes this one of the lowest maintenance designs in the range.

Resizing

The back of the band is plain, so this ring resizes by one to two sizes without touching the milgrain or the bezel. Contact us before ordering if you are unsure of the finger size and we will help you measure.

Questions people ask

Is the centre stone a diamond? No. It is moissanite, a gemstone in its own right, and we never describe it as a diamond.

Is a bezel the safest setting? For an emerald cut, yes. The rim wraps the whole girdle and covers the corners, which are the thinnest and most vulnerable part of the cut. Nothing stands proud to be knocked or snagged.

Does a bezel hide part of the stone? A little of the outer edge, yes. That is the trade for the protection. If you want the maximum stone visible, our half bezel leaves both ends completely open.

Will the milgrain wear away? The beads soften over many years of wear. It is how antique rings age, and a jeweller can recut the beading whenever you want it sharp again.

Can I wear a wedding band with it? Yes. The shank is slim and plain at the back so a straight band sits flush, and because nothing on this ring protrudes there is nothing for a second band to catch on.

Does the price change with carat size? Yes. The 2 carat is the base price and each larger size adds a small amount. The exact price appears when you select a combination.
