Emerald Cut Moissanite Wide Cigar Band Baguette Engagement Ring

An emerald cut moissanite in four claws sitting on top of a wide flat cigar band, with three baguettes set into the band on each side of it. The accents are sunk level with the surface rather than raised, so you can run a finger along the shoulder and feel nothing but a continuous flat plane of metal and stone.

This is the boldest ring in our emerald cut range. The band is roughly 6 mm across, which is three times the width of a standard shank, and it fills the finger from knuckle to knuckle. It is deliberately heavy in the hand, and it wears more like a signet than like a conventional engagement ring.

Pricing note

Our prices are based on a band up to 2 mm wide. This band is approximately 6 mm, so it carries a width supplement of 200 US dollars in sterling silver and 800 US dollars in gold, and that supplement is already included in every price shown here. It is not added at checkout. The extra cost is simply the extra metal, which at 6 mm is a substantial amount, particularly in 18K.

How it compares to our other wide band emerald cut rings

Every design is listed separately. Our plain cigar band ring is the same 6 mm width but carries no accent stones at all. Our channel set baguette ring uses the same step cut accents but sets them into a normal 2 mm shank, so it costs a great deal less and wears much lighter. This is the only design that combines the full cigar width with set stones. If you want presence above everything else, this is the ring.

Metals and sizes

Choose from 925 sterling silver, or 10K, 14K and 18K gold in yellow, rose and white. All gold is solid, never plated and never filled. White gold is rhodium finished. Yellow gold is shown here and is the natural choice, because at this width the metal is most of what you see. Centre stone sizes run from 2 carat to 5 carat, and the larger sizes balance the band better than the smaller ones.

Made to order in our own workshop

Mapple Gems is a family run workshop in Surat, India. Every ring is made by our own team after you order. A band this wide is formed from solid stock rather than rolled thin, which is why it feels the way it does. If you would like it made narrower at 4 mm or 3 mm, tell us in the order notes and the price will come down accordingly.

Care

Moissanite is 9.25 on the Mohs scale and takes daily wear well. Clean with warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft brush. Flush set accents sit below the surface with nothing to catch, so this is a low maintenance ring. A wide flat band does pick up fine surface scratches over the years, which most people come to like; we can repolish it any time.

A note on fit

Wide bands sit differently to narrow ones. They feel tighter at the same nominal size, and many people take a quarter to a half size larger in a 6 mm band than they would in a 2 mm one. Tell us if you are ordering to an existing measurement taken from a thin ring and we will advise.

Resizing

The back of the band is plain, but a 6 mm band is difficult to resize by more than one size without distorting the profile. We would rather make it to the right size in the first place, so contact us before ordering if you are unsure and we will help you measure.

Questions people ask

Is the centre stone a diamond? No. Every stone in this ring is moissanite, a gemstone in its own right, and we never describe it as a diamond.

Why is this so much more expensive than your other rings? Metal. At 6 mm the band uses roughly three times the gold of a standard shank, and gold is priced by weight. The supplement is stated openly above.

Is a wide band uncomfortable? Not usually, but it is a different sensation. The inside edges are rounded off so nothing digs in. If you have never worn a wide ring, be aware it restricts finger bend slightly more than a thin one.

Can I wear a wedding band with it? Honestly, most people do not. At 6 mm this ring reads as complete on its own and a second band alongside it becomes very heavy. It can be done, and a plain 2 mm band works best if you want to.

Does the price change with carat size? Yes. The 2 carat is the base price and each larger size adds a small amount. The exact price appears when you select a combination.
