An emerald cut moissanite in four claws above a band that carries a row of small baguettes sunk into a channel. The accents sit between two smooth walls of metal with nothing holding them from above, so the top surface of the shoulder is a flat run of stone bordered by two clean rails. Nothing stands proud anywhere along it.

Channel setting was the standard way to set square and rectangular accents for most of the twentieth century, and it is still the tidiest. Because there are no claws or beads on the accents, the line stays unbroken and the ring keeps a strict, engineered look that suits the geometry of an emerald cut centre stone.

How it compares to our other baguette emerald cut rings

Every design is listed separately. Our step cut accent band sets its stones in shared claws with visible metal between each one, and runs three quarters of the way round. Our baguette fan ring gathers several stones into a cluster at the shoulder. Our three stone rings use one large tapered baguette per side. This is the only design in the range where the accents are channel set, and it is the flattest and most snag free of the group. If you want baguettes but no claws at all, this is the one.

Metals and sizes

Choose from 925 sterling silver, or 10K, 14K and 18K gold in yellow, rose and white. All gold is solid, never plated and never filled. White gold is rhodium finished and shown here, which lets the channel walls and the accents read as one continuous bright surface. Centre stone sizes run from 2 carat to 5 carat.

Made to order in our own workshop

Mapple Gems is a family run workshop in Surat, India. Every ring is made by our own team after you order. Channel work is unforgiving because the stones must be identical in height and the walls have to be pressed down evenly along the whole run. Our senior setters do this one. If you would prefer round accents in the channel, or the channel carried further round the band, tell us in the order notes before we begin.

Care

Moissanite is 9.25 on the Mohs scale and takes daily wear well. Clean with warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft brush. Channels can trap a little soap under the rails, so rinse thoroughly and dry with a soft cloth. There are no claws on the accents to catch or loosen, which makes this one of the lower maintenance designs we make.

Resizing

The lower half of the band is plain, so this ring resizes by one to two sizes. Anything more would distort the channel, so tell us if you expect to need a larger adjustment and we will plan for it. Contact us before ordering if you are unsure of the finger size and we will help you measure.

Questions people ask

Is the centre stone a diamond? No. Every stone in this ring is moissanite, a gemstone in its own right, and we never describe it as a diamond.

Is a channel setting secure? Very. The stones are held by the two walls along their full length and sit below the surface of the metal, so they are protected from knocks in a way claw set accents are not.

Why baguettes rather than rounds? Baguettes are step cut like the centre stone. They flash rather than glitter, so the whole ring behaves consistently.

Can I wear a wedding band with it? Yes, and it sits particularly flush because the shoulders are flat topped and nothing protrudes.

Does the price change with carat size? Yes. The 2 carat is the base price and each larger size adds a small amount. The exact price appears when you select a combination.
