Emerald Cut Moissanite Milgrain Arch Gallery Engagement Ring

An emerald cut moissanite on a plain rounded band that divides just below the head into a low arch. Pave is set into the arch itself and edged with milgrain on both sides, and a small beaded motif of pave sits under the stone where the two halves meet. Even the tips of the claws are finished with milgrain.

What makes this one unusual is where the decoration is not. The shank stays completely plain from the shoulders backwards, so all the detail is concentrated in a band of about a centimetre around the setting. From a distance it reads as a simple polished ring; close up it is one of the most worked heads we make.

Metals and sizes

Choose from 925 sterling silver, or 10K, 14K and 18K gold in yellow, rose and white. All gold is solid, never plated and never filled. White gold is rhodium finished. Yellow gold is shown here and suits the design, because the plain shank becomes a broad band of warm colour against the beaded detail at the top. Centre stone sizes run from 2 carat to 5 carat.

Made to order in our own workshop

Mapple Gems is a family run workshop in Surat, India. Every ring is made by our own team after you order. The milgrain is cut by hand with a knurling wheel once the stones are set, including the beading on the claw tips, which is fiddly work on something that small. If you would prefer plain claws, or the arch left without milgrain, tell us in the order notes before we begin.

Care

Moissanite is 9.25 on the Mohs scale and takes daily wear well. Clean with warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft brush, working underneath the arch where the motif sits and residue gathers out of sight. Rinse and dry with a soft cloth. Have the pave checked once a year.

Resizing

The shank is plain the whole way round behind the shoulders, so this ring resizes easily by one to two sizes and often more. Contact us before ordering if you are unsure of the finger size and we will help you measure.

Questions people ask

Is the centre stone a diamond? No. Every stone in this ring is moissanite, a gemstone in its own right, and we never describe it as a diamond.

What is milgrain? A row of tiny metal beads worked along an edge with a knurling wheel. It was standard on Edwardian and Art Deco rings and it is what gives this design its antique softness.

Why is the band left plain? Deliberately. It keeps the ring easy to wear and easy to resize, and it makes the worked head stand out more than it would if the whole shank were busy.

Can I wear a wedding band with it? Yes, easily. The plain shank means a straight band sits flush against it on either side.

Does the price change with carat size? Yes. The 2 carat is the base price and each larger size adds a small amount. The exact price appears when you select a combination.
