Why this ring works

Most nature inspired rings settle for a twisted band and call it a vine. This one is actually modelled: the branches taper, they cross at different heights on each shoulder, the tendrils curl in three dimensions, and the accent stones are placed where leaves would grow rather than at even intervals. Using marquise cuts for the leaves is the detail that makes it read correctly, because a marquise is already a pointed oval, which is the shape of a leaf. The emerald cut sitting above all of it supplies the one piece of hard geometry the design needs to stay elegant rather than merely decorative.

Setting and band

Four claw prongs hold the corners of the emerald cut above an open gallery. The shank is sculpted as two entwined vines that cross on the shoulders and rejoin behind the head. Marquise cut moissanite accents are claw set as leaves along the vines, with round brilliant accents set as buds between them and curled tendrils modelled into the metal. Milgrain beading runs the length of each stem. Band width at the crossover is approximately two millimetres. Metal is solid throughout with a polished interior.

Metal options

Choose from recycled 925 sterling silver, or solid 10K, 14K and 18K gold in yellow, rose and white. Yellow gold, as photographed, is the natural choice here because warm metal reads as branch and stem, and the colorless accents read as leaves against it. Rose gold pushes the design further toward romance. White gold and sterling silver make it cooler and more sculptural. White gold is rhodium finished.

Care

Sculpted vines, curled tendrils and milgrain all trap soap film, and the crossing points hold the most. Clean every few weeks with warm water, mild dish soap and a soft toothbrush, working into the gaps between the branches from both sides and up through the gallery. Rinse and dry with a lint free cloth.

Questions people ask

Why marquise stones for the leaves? A marquise is a pointed oval, which is already leaf shaped. Setting it lengthwise along a vine gives a leaf outline without any extra metalwork.

Is the vine pattern the same on both sides? No, and deliberately so. The two branches cross at different points, which is what stops it looking mechanically repeated.

How many accent stones are there? Marquise leaves and round buds are placed along the vine, and the count is proportioned to your finger size and centre stone weight so the design stays balanced.

Which metal should I choose? Yellow or rose gold for a true botanical look. White gold or sterling silver for a cooler sculptural version. For daily wear over decades, 14K balances colour and durability best.
