Emerald Cut Moissanite Scalloped Arch Micropave Vintage Engagement Ring

An emerald cut moissanite in four claws on a band that is decorated on three faces. Along the top edge runs a fine line of micropave. Down each side of the shank is a row of scalloped milgrain arches, each arch holding its own small accent, so that seen from the side the band looks like a little arcade rather than a plain strip of metal. The pattern carries up into the basket beneath the head, where more accents are set into the same arched frames.

Very few people will ever see the arches on the inner faces except the person wearing the ring, which is rather the point. This is the most heavily worked design in our emerald cut range, and almost all of that work is in places you only find when you look closely.

How it compares to our other vintage emerald cut rings

Each design is listed separately. Our vintage milgrain ring runs two flat rows of pave along a tapered band and beads the edges. Our French pave ring cuts scallops into the metal but sets no stones inside them. Our classic pave solitaire has one plain row and nothing else. This is the only design where the sides of the band and the basket are decorated as thoroughly as the top, and it is the one to choose if you want the ring to reward close inspection rather than announce itself from across a room.

Metals and sizes

Choose from 925 sterling silver, or 10K, 14K and 18K gold in yellow, rose and white. All gold is solid, never plated and never filled. White gold is rhodium finished. Yellow gold is shown here and it suits the arcade pattern, because the shadows inside each arch are what make the shape readable. Centre stone sizes run from 2 carat to 5 carat.

Made to order in our own workshop

Mapple Gems is a family run workshop in Surat, India. Every ring is made by our own team after you order. The arches are cut and the milgrain is beaded by hand after the stones are set, which is slow, and it is why this design takes longer than most in our range. If you would prefer the side arches left plain, or the whole ring simplified to a single top row, tell us in the order notes before we begin.

Care

Moissanite is 9.25 on the Mohs scale and takes daily wear well. Clean with warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft brush. There is a great deal of texture on this ring for lotion and soap to collect in, so work the brush along the arches from both sides, rinse thoroughly and dry with a soft cloth. Have the pave checked once a year.

Resizing

The lower part of the band is plain, so this ring resizes by one to two sizes. Going further would cut into the arch pattern, so tell us if you expect to need more than that and we will adjust the layout before making it. Questions people ask

Is the centre stone a diamond? No. Every stone in this ring is moissanite, a gemstone in its own right, and we never describe it as a diamond.

What is micropave? Pave set with very small stones, typically under 1.3 mm, held by tiny beads raised from the metal itself. It reads as a continuous line of light rather than as individual stones.

Will the side arches show when I wear it? Partly. They catch light at an angle and are clearly visible when you turn your hand, but they are mostly a detail for the wearer.

Can I wear a wedding band with it? A straight band will sit against the plain lower section. Because the shank is knife edged, a band with a matching angled profile sits closest.

Does the price change with carat size? Yes. The 2 carat is the base price and each larger size adds a small amount. The exact price appears when you select a combination.
