Emerald Cut Moissanite Hidden Halo Plain Band Engagement Ring

From above this looks like a plain solitaire. An emerald cut moissanite in four slim claws, a smooth rounded band, no stones anywhere on the shoulders. Turn your hand and a line of tiny accents appears underneath the centre stone, running all the way round the base of the setting where nobody looking straight down would ever find them.

That is the whole idea. The hidden halo lifts the stone slightly, throws light back up through it from below, and gives the ring a second life at an angle without changing the clean outline from the top. The band itself is left completely undecorated and finished with a rounded inner edge so it sits comfortably against the finger all day.

Metals and sizes

Choose from 925 sterling silver, or 10K, 14K and 18K gold in yellow, rose and white. All gold is solid, never plated and never filled. White gold is rhodium finished. Yellow gold is shown here, and with no accents on the band the metal colour is the whole personality of the ring, so it is worth thinking about which suits the skin it will sit against. Centre stone sizes run from 2 carat to 5 carat.

Made to order in our own workshop

Mapple Gems is a family run workshop in Surat, India. Every ring is made by our own team after you order. A plain band shows every mark, so this one is finished by hand to a mirror polish and inspected under a loupe before it leaves us. If you would like the band narrower or wider, or the hidden halo left out for a truly plain solitaire, tell us in the order notes before we begin.

Care

Moissanite is 9.25 on the Mohs scale and takes daily wear well. Clean with warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft brush, working the brush underneath the stone where the hidden halo sits and where oils collect out of sight. Rinse and dry with a soft cloth. A plain gold band picks up fine surface scratches over years of wear, which most people come to like, but we can repolish it any time.

Resizing

The band is plain the whole way round, so this ring resizes freely, up or down, by several sizes. It is the most easily resized design in our emerald cut range. Contact us before ordering if you are unsure of the finger size and we will help you measure.

Questions people ask

Is the centre stone a diamond? No. Every stone in this ring is moissanite, a gemstone in its own right, and we never describe it as a diamond.

What does a hidden halo actually do? It adds light under the stone and a little height, and it gives the ring a detail that only shows from the side. It does not make the centre stone look bigger from above, which a visible halo does.

Will it catch on things? Less than most. There is nothing raised on the band and the claws are filed low, so this is one of the more practical designs we make.

Can I wear a wedding band with it? Yes, with anything. Because the shank is plain and the head sits centrally, a straight band sits flush on either side.

Does the price change with carat size? Yes. The 2 carat is the base price and each larger size adds a small amount. The exact price appears when you select a combination.
