This is a heavy ring. The band is 4 mm across, flat on top with softly eased edges, and it keeps that width the whole way round rather than tapering at the shoulders. The emerald cut sits low against it in four slim claws, so the stone reads as part of the band rather than something perched on top of it.

Underneath the stone the metal narrows into a small V. That is the only shaping anywhere on the ring.

How it compares

Every other emerald solitaire we make puts the stone above a slim band, which makes the stone the whole ring. This one balances the two. At 4 mm the band has real presence on the finger, and a low set stone on a wide band is the shape that suits people who find a raised solitaire catches on things.

Why an emerald cut

An emerald cut is flat and rectangular, which is why it sits so well on a wide flat band. The two shapes share a language. A round brilliant on the same band would look like a bead dropped on a strap.

Wearing and stacking

A 4 mm band takes up the room a wedding band would normally use, so most people wear this one on its own or with a very slim band on the other side of the finger. Nothing on the ring stands proud, so it does not catch on clothing.

Care

Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft brush. A wide flat band picks up fine scratches with wear, which is normal in gold and silver. We can repolish it at any time.

Questions buyers ask

Will a 4 mm band feel too heavy
It is heavier than a 2 mm band, and that is the point of the design. If you are unsure, order a half size up, because wide bands fit tighter than narrow ones at the same nominal size.

Does the low setting protect the stone
It helps. There is less of the stone standing above the finger to knock, and the claws are short.

Can this ring be resized
Yes, by one to two sizes, though a wide band takes longer to resize cleanly than a narrow one.

Is moissanite hard enough for daily wear
Yes. Moissanite is 9.25 on the Mohs scale, second only to diamond among stones used in jewellery.

Which finger sizes are available
Sizes 3 to 13 including half sizes. Message us before ordering if you need something outside that range.
