Two strands of metal twist around each other to form the band, and marquise cut accents are set along them at irregular intervals like leaves growing on a branch. The strands part and rejoin as they climb toward the centre stone, so no two points of the band look the same.

A step cut emerald in the middle of an organic setting is an unusual pairing. The long straight facets of the stone read as still and architectural, and the vine around them is deliberately not.

Why an emerald cut

An emerald cut shows the stone rather than the sparkle. Broad flat facets step down toward the table and give long flashes of light instead of the scattered fire of a brilliant cut. It is the clearest of all the cuts, which is why it suits a colorless VVS stone so well.

Wearing and stacking

The twisted band is not flat, so a straight wedding band meets it at the high points of the twist. A matching twisted or curved band sits against it far better.

Mapple Gems is a family run workshop in Surat. The two strands are drawn and twisted by hand before the leaf seats are cut, so the pattern of the twist and the placement of every accent varies slightly from ring to ring. Every ring is made after you order, usually within 14 to 18 working days.

Care

Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft brush. Work the brush into the gaps between the two strands where the vine opens. Rinse and dry with a lint free cloth.

Yes in a mined diamond. Moissanite is grown, and at VVS there is nothing to see through the open table.
