The band is 3 mm wide, flat on top, and the edges are left sharp rather than rounded off. That single decision is what gives this ring its character. From above the band reads as two crisp parallel lines running either side of the stone.

The head stands clear of the band on a squared open box, so there is a visible gap of daylight beneath the stone and the emerald cut is seen from all four sides.

How it compares

Our wide flat band low set emerald ring is broader at 4 mm, has softened edges and sits the stone right down against the metal. This one is narrower, sharper at the edges and lifts the stone on an open box. Side by side, that ring reads as one solid object and this one reads as a stone held above a band.

Why an emerald cut

Sharp edges on the band, sharp corners on the stone. The whole ring is built from straight lines and right angles, which is why an emerald cut belongs here and a round stone would not.

Wearing and stacking

Square edges feel more present on the finger than rounded ones, especially at first. The band takes up a good part of the finger, so most people wear this one alone.

Mapple Gems is a family run workshop in Surat. Keeping an edge genuinely sharp through polishing is harder than rounding it, because every polishing stage wants to soften it. The edges are trued by hand at the end. Every ring is made after you order, usually within 12 to 16 working days.

Care

Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft brush. Clean under the raised head from beneath, where dust gathers in the open box. A flat band shows fine scratches with wear; we can repolish it at any time.

Do sharp edges wear down
They soften very slightly over years of wear, which most people never notice. We can re true them during a service.

Does the raised setting catch
The head stands higher than on a low set ring. If you want the same band with the stone sitting lower, our wide flat band low set emerald ring is that design.

Can this ring be resized
Yes, by one to two sizes. A wide band takes longer to resize cleanly than a narrow one.

Is moissanite hard enough for daily wear
Yes. Moissanite is 9.25 on the Mohs scale, second only to diamond among stones used in jewellery.
