All the accent work on this ring is gathered into two small sprigs, one on each side of the centre stone. Each sprig is two marquise cuts set at different angles like a pair of leaves, with a single round bud tucked between them.

Below that the band is completely bare. Two smooth strands twist around each other and open into long loops as they run down the shoulders, the way a willow branch splits and rejoins. No stones anywhere on the band itself.

How it compares

This one concentrates every accent into two sprigs at the head and leaves the branch bare. It is the quieter of the two, and the easier one to wear with a plain wedding band.

Why an emerald cut

An emerald cut shows the stone rather than the sparkle. Broad flat facets step down toward the table and give long steady flashes of light instead of the scattered fire of a brilliant cut. Set against leaves and a branch, that stillness is the point of the contrast.

Wearing and stacking

The twist is smooth and rounded with no beading or claws on the band, so nothing catches. A curved wedding band follows the loops better than a straight one.

Mapple Gems is a family run workshop in Surat. The two strands are twisted and the loops opened by hand before the sprigs are attached, so the branch pattern is never quite identical between two rings. Every ring is made after you order, usually within 14 to 18 working days.

Care

Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft brush. Work the brush through the open loops from both sides, and around the points of the marquise leaves. Rinse and dry with a lint free cloth.

Each point sits under a fine claw. The leaves are angled inward so the points face the centre stone rather than outward.
