How it compares

Our classic four claw emerald keeps a small open trellis under the stone, which lifts the head slightly and lets light in from below. This one removes that entirely and drops the stone onto the shank. Side by side, this is the lower and more modern of the two, and the classic is the brighter.

Why an emerald cut

An emerald cut shows the stone rather than the sparkle. Broad flat facets step down toward the table and give long steady flashes of light instead of the scattered fire of a brilliant cut. Set this low, the stone reads as a flat panel of light lying on the finger.

Wearing and stacking

This is the lowest profile ring in the emerald range. It slides under gloves, does not rock on the finger, and sits flush against a wedding band on both sides.

Mapple Gems is a family run workshop in Surat. With no gallery there is nothing to hide the join where the shank crosses, so that crossing is filed and polished before the stone goes anywhere near it. Every ring is made after you order, usually within 7 to 10 working days.

Care

Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft brush. Because the stone sits on the band, the underside of the emerald cut collects more than it would on a raised setting. Brush from underneath through the crossover. Rinse and dry with a lint free cloth.

Does a low setting make the stone look smaller
No, the face up size is identical. It changes the profile, not the outline.

Does less light reach the stone
Slightly, since nothing enters from directly beneath. On a step cut this matters far less than it would on a brilliant cut.

Can this ring be resized
Yes, by two or more sizes. The band carries no stones.

Is moissanite hard enough for daily wear
