This ring has two rows of hidden accents rather than one. The first is the usual halo set into the outside of the basket, tucked under the girdle of the emerald cut. The second sits lower down, running along the top of the gallery bridge where the two cathedral arms cross beneath the stone.

From above none of it is visible. The band is plain, the head is plain, and the ring reads as an ordinary solitaire until it is tipped.

How it compares

Our plain band hidden halo emerald stops at one row around the basket. This one adds a second row further down, so from the side you see two separate lines of light stacked one above the other. The band on both is deliberately left bare, which is what keeps the detail a surprise.

Wearing and stacking

The cathedral arms lift the head slightly, which leaves room for a wedding band to sit under it without touching the centre stone. The shank itself is plain and takes any band profile.

Mapple Gems is a family run workshop in Surat. Setting the gallery bridge is the awkward part of this ring, because the row curves in two directions at once. It is done before the head is closed up, while the setter can still reach it from both sides. Every ring is made after you order, usually within 14 to 18 working days.

Care

Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft brush. Turn the ring over and brush upward through the gallery, which is where both hidden rows collect. Rinse and dry with a lint free cloth.
