There are no accent stones on this ring. Everything that decorates it is cut into the metal itself. A scroll pattern runs along the top face of the band and down both shoulders, framed on each edge by a fine milgrain rail, and the shank tapers gently as it comes up to the four claws.

Engraving reads differently from stones. It catches light in soft lines rather than points, so the ring changes with the angle of your hand without ever competing with the centre stone.

Why an emerald cut

An emerald cut shows the stone rather than the sparkle. Broad flat facets step down toward the table and give long flashes of light instead of the scattered fire of a brilliant cut. Paired with engraving rather than pave, the result is an antique ring that stays quiet.

Wearing and stacking

The engraved face is flat, so a flat wedding band sits against it perfectly. Bear in mind that a band rubbing against engraving will soften the pattern over many years. A slightly curved band avoids that.

Mapple Gems is a family run workshop in Surat. The scroll is cut by hand with a graver, not stamped or cast, so the depth of the lines varies very slightly along the band. That variation is what tells a hand engraved ring from a moulded one. Every ring is made after you order, usually within 14 to 18 working days.

Care

Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft brush. Brush along the direction of the scroll lines. Polish gently and only with a cloth, since abrasive polish will round off the engraving over time. Rinse and dry with a lint free cloth.

Will the engraving wear away
Slowly, over many years of daily wear, and mostly on the underside. We can recut it for you at any point.

Can this ring be resized
By about one size. Resizing further would break the run of the scroll pattern.

Is moissanite hard enough for daily wear
Yes. Moissanite is 9.25 on the Mohs scale, second only to diamond among stones used in jewellery.
