The accents on this band are French set. The metal is cut away in a V beneath each stone, so light reaches the pave from below and the row reads as a line of stones rather than a line of metal with stones in it. From the side you see a scalloped edge along the top of the band.

Under the centre stone there is nothing. No hidden halo, no decorative gallery, just a plain basket. If you want a pave band without the extra sparkle underneath, this is that ring.

How it compares

Our three quarter pave hidden halo emerald ring adds a ring of small stones under the centre, which lifts the head and adds sparkle at the girdle. This one leaves that space plain. The head sits lower, the ring costs less to make, and the pave on the band is the only place stones appear. It is the more restrained choice of the two and the easier one to wear under gloves or a sleeve.

Why an emerald cut

An emerald cut has a large open table with nowhere to hide. Surrounding it with small brilliants on the band gives the ring movement without putting anything next to the centre stone that competes with it.

Wearing and stacking

The pave stops about three quarters of the way round, so the back of the band is plain and comfortable. A pave wedding band matches the scalloped edge closely.

Mapple Gems is a family run workshop in Surat. French setting takes longer than ordinary bead setting because the V under each stone is cut by hand before the stone goes in, and a V cut even slightly off centre shows as a crooked scallop from the side. Every ring is made after you order, usually within 12 to 16 working days.

Care

Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft brush. The open V under each stone lets you brush the pave from underneath, which is the fastest way to bring the sparkle back. Rinse and dry with a lint free cloth.

Why is there no hidden halo

Yes, by one to two sizes. The back quarter of the band carries no stones.
