This is the plainest ring we make. Four claws, a rectangular basket, and a half round band that runs straight into the head with no arch, no split and no decoration. The stone sits low and close to the finger.

Nothing here is trying to be clever. If the stone is what you want people to look at, this is the setting that gets out of its way.

How it compares

Our cathedral ring lifts the stone on two arches; our bezel rings wrap the girdle in metal. This one does neither. The band and the head are one continuous line from the side, the profile is the lowest of any claw setting we make, and the band is slightly wider and rounder than our other plain designs, which makes it the most comfortable of the three for all day wear.

Why an emerald cut

With no decoration anywhere, everything depends on the stone. An emerald cut gives long clean flashes rather than scattered sparkle, and its straight edges line up with the four claws instead of fighting them.

Wearing and stacking

The low basket means a flat wedding band sits right against the shank with almost no gap. A half round profile is also the shape most wedding bands are made in, so the two match.

Made to order in Surat, India

Mapple Gems is a family run workshop in Surat. There is nowhere to hide on a plain ring. The band has to be a true half round all the way round and the four claws have to sit at exactly the same height, because any error shows against a bare surface. Every ring is made after you order, usually within 12 to 16 working days.

Care

Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft brush. Nothing collects in this design. Rinse and dry with a lint free cloth.

Yes. The band is a little wider and fully rounded on the inside, and the stone sits lower than in our cathedral or high bezel rings.

Can this ring be resized
Yes, by two sizes in either direction, more than most of our designs, because the band is plain and even all the way round.

Is moissanite hard enough for daily wear
Yes. Moissanite is 9.25 on the Mohs scale, second only to diamond among stones used in jewellery.

Which finger sizes are available
