Emerald Cut Moissanite Celtic Trinity Knot Solitaire Engagement Ring

A trinity knot sits on each side of the centre stone, worked as a proper three lobed triquetra with the strands passing over and under one another rather than being carved to look that way. From each knot the band separates into two round strands that weave along the shoulder and rejoin into a single shank at the back.

There are no stones anywhere except the centre. The whole design is made from the metal itself.

Design details

  • Open work throughout, so light passes through the sides
  • Polished finish, no accent stones and no engraving
  • Band approximately 2 mm across at the back
  • Available in 925 sterling silver, 10K, 14K and 18K yellow, rose and white gold

About the trinity knot

The triquetra is one of the oldest Celtic motifs, drawn as a single unbroken line looped into three points. It appears in Irish manuscript work from the eighth century onward. Because the line has no start and no end, it has long been used on rings for the same reason a plain band is: it stands for something continuous.

How it compares

Our other plain metal emerald rings use leaves or vines. This one uses a knot, and the difference is not just decorative. The knot is geometric and symmetrical, so it reads as heritage rather than botanical. If Celtic or Irish design matters to you, this is the ring in the range that carries it.

Why an emerald cut

Step cut facets are made of straight lines, which is the same language the knot is drawn in. A round brilliant beside a triquetra tends to fight it. A rectangle sits with it.

Wearing and stacking

The knots rise a little at the shoulders. A straight wedding band sits flush at the back and leaves a small gap under the knot. A contoured band follows the shape more closely.

Made to order in Surat, India

Mapple Gems is a family run workshop in Surat. The knot is the difficult part. It has to be pierced and filed so the strands genuinely pass over and under, because a knot that is only carved on the surface looks wrong from the side. Every ring is made after you order, usually within 14 to 18 working days.

Care

Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft brush. Work the brush through the openings of the knot from both sides. Rinse and dry with a lint free cloth.

Questions buyers ask

Are the knots really interlaced
Yes. The strands are pierced through so each one passes over one neighbour and under the other, the way a drawn knot does.

Does the ring have any accent stones
No. Only the centre stone.

Can this ring be resized
Yes, by one to two sizes in either direction. The back of the shank is a single plain strand, which gives us clean metal to work with without touching the knots.

Is moissanite hard enough for daily wear
Yes. Moissanite is 9.25 on the Mohs scale, second only to diamond among stones used in jewellery.

Which finger sizes are available
Sizes 3 to 13 including half sizes. Message us before ordering if you need something outside that range.
