An emerald cut moissanite in four slim claws, sitting on a band that is decorated the whole way around. Marquise cut moissanite lie lengthways along the band, each one held in its own scalloped frame with a fine beaded milgrain edge, and between every pair of marquise sits a small round brilliant moissanite in a raised bead setting. Milgrain runs along both edges of the band from one end of the pattern to the other.

This is the vintage look done properly. The milgrain is what does the work. Instead of one wide flat surface of metal, you get a row of tiny beads catching light at the edge of every frame, which is what gives antique jewellery its softer, older glow. The centre stone is step cut and calm; the band around it is detailed and busy. The contrast is the point.

One of our other emerald cut rings runs a continuous row of marquise and round accents held in shared claws, with no milgrain and no frames, and it stops at the shoulders. Another spaces the accents out as separate stations along an otherwise plain band. This one is the most decorated of the three. Every marquise sits inside its own scalloped milgrain frame, the milgrain runs the full length of the band, and the pattern carries right around the finger rather than stopping at the shoulders. If you want an antique feel and you want the ring to look finished from every angle, including from the back of the hand, this is the one.

Metals and sizes

Choose from 925 sterling silver, or 10K, 14K and 18K gold in yellow, rose and white. All gold is solid, not plated and not filled. White gold is rhodium finished. Milgrain shows most clearly in yellow and rose gold, where the beaded edge picks up a warm highlight. Centre stone sizes run from 2 carat to 5 carat, with the band pattern scaled to suit.

Made to order in our own workshop

Mapple Gems is a family run workshop in Surat, India. Every ring is made by our own team after you order. The milgrain on this design is applied by hand with a milgrain wheel, bead by bead along the edge. That is why we ask for your exact finger size before we start, and why we can adjust the pattern, the band width or the accent size if you ask us in the order notes.

Care

Moissanite is 9.25 on the Mohs scale and wears well every day. Clean with warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft brush. Brush gently along the milgrain rather than across it. Rinse and dry with a soft cloth. Take the ring off before swimming, gardening, gym work or applying lotions. Milgrain is fine metal detail and will soften over many years of heavy wear, which most people consider part of the character; we can re-cut it if you ever want it sharpened.

Resizing

The stones and the milgrain run the full circumference, so this ring cannot be resized in the usual way. We make it to your exact size instead. If you are not certain of your size, contact us before ordering and we will help you measure, or send a free plastic sizer.

Questions people ask

Is the centre stone a diamond? No. Every stone in this ring is moissanite. It is its own gemstone with its own properties, and we never present it as a diamond.

What is milgrain? A row of tiny metal beads worked along an edge with a small wheel. It softens the line between metal and stone and is a signature of antique and art deco jewellery.

Can this ring be resized later? No, not without disturbing the pattern. This is why we make it to your measured size. Tell us before you order if you are unsure.

Can I wear a wedding band with it? Yes, but a straight band will sit against the raised bead settings. A slightly contoured band, or a plain milgrain band in the same metal, pairs best.

Does the price change with carat size? Yes. The 2 carat is the base price and each larger size adds a small amount. The exact price appears when you select a combination.
