Emerald Cut Moissanite Twisted Pave Milgrain Engagement Ring

An emerald cut moissanite in four claws on a shank that splits into two fine strands and twists around itself. One strand carries bead set pave moissanite, the other is edged with milgrain beading. Because the two strands are different textures rather than different widths, the twist is legible from every angle, and the ring reads as antique detailing rather than modern sparkle.

Why this ring works

A twisted shank is a common idea. Pairing a pave strand with a milgrain strand is not. Milgrain is a row of tiny raised metal beads, so it catches light in the same broken, granular way pave does, but in metal instead of stone. Set them side by side in a twist and the two textures echo each other, which makes the band look far more detailed than the stone count would suggest. It also means the ring works in yellow gold, where a fully paved twist would look too white against the metal.

Setting and band

Four claw prongs hold the corners of the emerald cut. The shank divides into two fine strands that cross over one another on both shoulders and rejoin at the back. One strand is bead set with pave moissanite along its length. The other is plain polished metal edged with milgrain beading on both sides. Combined width is approximately two millimetres at the crossover. Metal is solid throughout with a polished interior.

Metal options

Choose from recycled 925 sterling silver, or solid 10K, 14K and 18K gold in yellow, rose and white. Yellow gold, as photographed, is where this design works hardest, because the milgrain reads as warm texture against the cool pave. White gold and sterling silver merge the two strands into one bright line. Rose gold sits between the two. White gold is rhodium finished.

Ring sizing

Every ring is made to order in your size. Sizes run from 3 to 13, including half sizes. If you are unsure, pick the closest size to your usual fit and contact us, and we will confirm it before production starts.

Care

Milgrain beading and pave both hold soap film, and the groove where the strands cross holds the most. Clean every few weeks with warm water, mild dish soap and a soft toothbrush, working along the twist from both directions. Rinse and dry with a lint free cloth.

Questions people ask

What is milgrain? A row of tiny metal beads pressed along an edge with a knurling tool. It is an Edwardian technique used to soften a hard line and add texture without adding stones.

Will the milgrain wear away? Very slowly, over decades, and mostly on the underside. Any bench jeweller can re cut it, which is one reason milgrain has stayed in use for over a century.

Can this be resized? Within a size or two using the plain metal at the back of the shank. Larger changes are better handled by ordering the correct size, which is why every ring here is made to order.

Which metal should I choose? For the clearest contrast between pave and milgrain choose yellow or rose gold. For maximum whiteness choose white gold or sterling silver. For daily wear over decades, 14K balances colour and durability best.
