Emerald Cut Moissanite Scalloped Sunburst Halo Pave Engagement Ring

An emerald cut moissanite surrounded by a halo of round brilliant accents that are not all the same size. Larger stones sit at the corners and at the middle of each side, with smaller ones filling the spaces between, and every single one is held in its own set of claws rather than shared beads. The result is a scalloped, sunburst outline rather than a smooth rectangle, and a halo that is noticeably larger and more dimensional than a standard one. Pave runs down both shoulders to complete the ring.

Because each halo stone is individually clawed, light gets in from the sides as well as the top, and the halo sparkles rather than sitting flat. The claws themselves are visible as small metal beads around the outside, which is part of the antique character of the design. It is a big, generous look on the finger.

How it compares to our other emerald cut halo rings

We list each design on its own, so here is how this one differs. Our rectangular halo ring uses uniform small stones set flush into a square frame and pairs it with a twist shank. Another of our halo rings has the same individually clawed graduated stones but sits on a completely plain band with no pave at all. This ring combines the two: the scalloped individually clawed halo and pave shoulders together. It is the brightest of the group and the one that looks largest on the finger, and it is the only one with both features.

Metals and sizes

Choose from 925 sterling silver, or 10K, 14K and 18K gold in yellow, rose and white. All gold is solid, not plated and not filled. White gold is rhodium finished. In yellow gold, as photographed, the claws around the halo read as a warm scalloped border and the design looks distinctly antique; in white gold the claws disappear and the halo reads as pure sparkle. Centre stone sizes run from 2 carat to 5 carat with the halo scaled to suit.

Made to order in our own workshop

Mapple Gems is a family run workshop in Surat, India. Every ring is made by our own team after you order. Setting a halo stone by stone with individual claws takes considerably longer than bead setting a row, which is why this design has a longer lead time than our plainer rings. Care

Moissanite is 9.25 on the Mohs scale and wears well every day. Clean with warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft brush, brushing carefully around the outside of the halo where the claws sit and under the head where light enters. Rinse and dry with a soft cloth. Take the ring off before swimming, gardening or gym work. The outer claws stand slightly proud, so this ring catches on knitwear more than a flush set design.

Resizing

The back of the band is plain, so this ring resizes by one to two sizes in either direction. Contact us before ordering if you are unsure of the finger size and we will help you measure.

Questions people ask

Is the centre stone a diamond? No. Every stone in this ring is moissanite, a gemstone in its own right. We do not describe it as a diamond.

Why are the halo stones different sizes? It is deliberate. Alternating sizes is what produces the scalloped sunburst outline and gives the halo its antique character; a uniform halo reads flatter and more modern.

Does the halo make the centre stone look bigger? Yes. Because this halo is larger than a standard one and stands proud, the face up size is noticeably greater than the centre stone alone.

Can I wear a wedding band with it? A straight band will leave a gap beneath the raised halo. A contoured band follows the outline and sits flush; we can make one to order.

Does the price change with carat size? Yes. The 2 carat is the base price and each larger size adds a small amount. The exact price is shown when you select a combination.
