Emerald Cut Moissanite Ribbed Croissant Dome Band Engagement Ring

A single emerald cut moissanite in four small rounded claws, sitting on a wide domed band that is carved into evenly spaced ribs the whole way around. The ribs run across the band rather than along it, so from every angle you see a row of soft metal ridges catching light one after another. There are no accent stones anywhere on this ring. All the interest comes from the metal.

This shape is often called a croissant or brioche band, and it wears very differently from a plain solitaire. The band is substantial and rounded against the finger, and because the ribs are polished rather than textured, the whole ring throws off a lot of warm reflected light even in a room with no direct sun. Under the centre stone the head opens into a V shaped gallery, which keeps the profile from looking heavy despite the width of the band.

How it compares to our other textured emerald cut bands

We list each design on its own, so here is how to tell them apart. Our rope twist band is made of strands that spiral along the length of the band. Our double twist and petite twist rings do the same thing at different scales. Our braided pave band adds small set stones into a woven pattern. This ring does none of that. The ribs here run across the band at right angles to it, like the segments of a coiled spring, and the band is domed rather than round in section. It is the widest and the boldest of our plain textured emerald cut bands, and the only one with no stones in the shank at all.

Metals and sizes

Choose from 925 sterling silver, or 10K, 14K and 18K gold in yellow, rose and white. All gold is solid, not plated and not filled. White gold is rhodium finished. A ribbed band shows the colour of the metal more than almost any other design, because every rib gives a fresh highlight, so this is a good design to choose if you want the metal itself to be the feature. Centre stone sizes run from 2 carat to 5 carat.

Pricing note

This band is 3 mm wide rather than our standard 2 mm, so it uses noticeably more metal. Our band width surcharge is applied to every variant of this ring, which is why it sits above our slim band solitaires.

Made to order in our own workshop

Mapple Gems is a family run workshop in Surat, India. Every ring is made by our own team once you order. The ribs on this band are cut and polished individually, which is slow work and the reason this design takes a little longer than a plain band. If you would like the ribs closer together, further apart, or the band made in a different width, tell us in the order notes before we start.

Care

Moissanite is 9.25 on the Mohs scale and stands up to daily wear. Clean the ring in warm water with a drop of mild dish soap and a soft brush, running the brush along the grooves between the ribs where soap tends to collect. Dry with a soft cloth. A wide polished band picks up fine surface scratches over time, which is normal; we can repolish it for you at any point. Take the ring off before gym work, gardening or swimming, and store it separately from harder stones.

Resizing

The rib pattern runs the full circumference, so resizing is limited to about half a size without disturbing the spacing. We would rather make the ring to your exact size. Contact us before ordering if you are unsure and we will help you measure.

Questions people ask

Is the centre stone a diamond? No. It is moissanite, which is its own gemstone. We do not present it as a diamond.

Is the band solid or hollow? Solid. The dome is carved from solid metal, not formed from a hollow tube, which is why it feels weighty on the hand.

Can I wear a wedding band with it? A straight band will sit against the ribs rather than flush. Many people wear this ring on its own for that reason, or pair it with a matching ribbed band on the other hand.

Will the ribs wear down? Over many years of heavy wear the ridges soften slightly. A repolish restores them. Gold in 14K and 18K holds the detail a little better than sterling silver.

Does the price change with carat size? Yes. The 2 carat is the base price and each larger size adds a small amount. The exact price is shown when you select a combination.
