Emerald Cut Moissanite Hidden Halo Wide Band Engagement Ring

An emerald cut moissanite lifted just clear of a wide polished band, with a milgrain edged hidden halo running around the base of the stone. From directly above you see a clean solitaire on a broad ribbon of metal. Turn the hand and a row of small round moissanite appears underneath the centre stone, framed on both edges by fine beaded milgrain.

The proportions are what make this ring work. The band is wide and quiet, the stone is large and quiet, and the only detail anywhere is the narrow sparkling collar between them. Because the head is raised on a small pedestal rather than sitting flat, there is a visible gap of light between the stone and the band, which stops a wide band design from looking heavy.

How it compares to our other wide band emerald cut rings

We list each design separately, so here is the difference. Our 6 mm cigar band sets the stone directly onto the band with no gap and no accent stones anywhere, and the ribbed croissant ring is a narrower 3 mm domed band carved into ridges. This ring sits between them at 5 mm, and it is the only one of the three with a hidden halo. That milgrain edged collar and the raised head are the whole distinction: from the front all three read as plain wide band solitaires, but only this one has stones under the centre.

Metals and sizes

Choose from 925 sterling silver, or 10K, 14K and 18K gold in yellow, rose and white. All gold is solid, not plated and not filled. White gold is rhodium finished. On a band this wide the metal colour dominates the design, and the hidden halo reads most clearly against yellow or rose gold where the small white stones contrast with the warm collar. Centre stone sizes run from 2 carat to 5 carat with the hidden halo scaled to the base of the stone.

This band is 5 mm wide against our standard 2 mm, so it uses considerably more metal. Our band width surcharge is applied to every variant of this ring. The premium reflects the weight of metal, not the setting work.

Made to order in our own workshop

Mapple Gems is a family run workshop in Surat, India. Every ring is made by our own team once you order. The hidden halo and its milgrain are worked before the centre stone is set, and the wide band is filed and polished flat by hand. If you would like the band narrower, the milgrain left off, or a brushed finish instead of polished, tell us in the order notes before we start.

Care

Moissanite is 9.25 on the Mohs scale and holds up to daily wear. Clean with warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft brush, working the brush into the collar under the stone where the hidden halo sits, since that area collects lotion and you cannot see it going dull. Dry with a soft cloth. A wide polished band collects fine scratches over time, which is normal; we can repolish it whenever you like.

Sizing and resizing

A 5 mm band fits more snugly than a slim one at the same nominal size, so many people take a half size larger in this width. Tell us your usual size and we will advise. It can be resized by about one size after making, though we would rather make it right the first time.

Questions people ask

Is the centre stone a diamond? No. Every stone in this ring is moissanite, a gemstone in its own right. We do not describe it as a diamond.

Can you see the hidden halo when wearing it? Not from above. It shows when the hand turns or when someone looks at the ring in profile, which is exactly the intention.

Is the band solid? Yes, solid metal at full width. That is why it feels substantial and why the price is above our slim band rings.

Can I wear a wedding band with it? Most people wear this one on its own, since 5 mm already covers a lot of the finger. If you want a second ring, a very slim band alongside works better than a matching width.

Does the price change with carat size? Yes. The 2 carat is the base price and each larger size adds a small amount. The exact price appears when you select a combination.
