From above this looks like a clean four claw solitaire on a twisted band. From the side you see what is actually going on: a row of small round moissanite is set around the base of the centre stone, tucked under the girdle where nobody sees it from the front. That is the hidden halo. Below it the shank divides into two slim strands that spiral around each other, with pave running along them down both shoulders, and comes back together as a plain band at the back of the finger.

A hidden halo does two things. It puts light directly under the centre stone, which lifts the whole stone visually, and it gives the ring a secret detail that only the wearer really notices. Combined with the twist, the ring reads simple from a distance and detailed up close, which is exactly what most people want from something worn every day.

How it compares to our other emerald cut twist rings

We keep every design as its own listing. Our rope twist, double twist and petite twist bands are plain metal with no stones in the shank at all. Our braided pave band weaves the stones into a plait that runs the whole way round. Our rectangular halo ring uses a similar twist but adds a large visible halo on top. This ring is the only one that pairs the twist with a hidden halo and nothing visible above. If you want the look of a solitaire from the front with sparkle you only find when you turn your hand, this is the one.

Metals and sizes

Choose from 925 sterling silver, or 10K, 14K and 18K gold in yellow, rose and white. All gold is solid, not plated and not filled. White gold is rhodium finished and is the metal shown here. A hidden halo shows particularly well in yellow or rose gold, because the small stones flash against the warm metal when the hand turns. Centre stone sizes run from 2 carat to 5 carat with the hidden halo scaled to match the base of the stone.

Made to order in our own workshop

Mapple Gems is a family run workshop in Surat, India. Every ring is made by our own team after you order. The hidden halo is set before the centre stone goes in, which is fiddly work and part of why this design takes a little longer. If you would like the hidden halo left out, the twist made plain, or the pave extended further round the band, tell us in the order notes before we start.

Care

Moissanite is 9.25 on the Mohs scale and suits daily wear. Clean with warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft brush. Pay attention to the hidden halo underneath the centre stone, because it sits in the spot where lotion and soap collect most and it is the part you cannot see going dull. Rinse and dry with a soft cloth. Take the ring off before swimming, gardening or gym work.

Resizing

The back of the band is plain, so this ring resizes by one to two sizes in either direction without touching the pave or the twist. Contact us before ordering if you are unsure of the finger size and we will help you measure.

Questions people ask

Is the centre stone a diamond? No. Every stone in this ring is moissanite, its own gemstone. We do not present it as a diamond.

What is a hidden halo? A ring of small stones set around the base of the centre stone, below the girdle. It is invisible from directly above and only shows when you look at the ring from the side.

Does it make the stone look bigger? Not from directly above, since it is hidden. What it does is add brightness underneath the stone and give the head more presence in profile.

Can I wear a wedding band with it? Yes. The plain back and the moderate profile mean a straight band sits close. A slightly contoured band follows the twist better if you want no gap at all.

Does the price change with carat size? Yes. The 2 carat is the base price and each larger size adds a small amount. The exact price appears when you select a combination.
