Emerald Cut Moissanite Hidden Halo Cathedral Split Shank Engagement Ring

An emerald cut moissanite set in four prongs on a cathedral shank that splits in two as it rises to meet the head, with a hidden halo of micro pave tucked beneath the crown and a further line of pave running along the inside of the split. The band itself stays plain and smooth from the front, so the sparkle only appears when the ring is seen from the side or from beneath.

Why this ring works

A cathedral shank is the arch you see in church windows, translated into metal. Instead of the band meeting the setting at a right angle, it sweeps upward and cradles the head from both sides. That does two things. It braces the centre stone against side impact, which matters for a long emerald cut, and it fills the space between finger and stone so the ring looks integrated rather than perched. Splitting the arch in two and setting pave along the inside edge adds light exactly where the eye travels when you look at the ring from the side.

Setting and band

Four claw prongs hold the corners of the emerald cut above a gallery wire. A hidden halo of micro pave moissanite wraps the base of the crown. The shank rises in a cathedral arch and splits into two strands beneath the head, with pave set along the inner faces of the split. From the front the band reads as plain polished metal of approximately two millimetres. Metal is solid throughout with a polished interior.

Choose from recycled 925 sterling silver, or solid 10K, 14K and 18K gold in yellow, rose and white. Yellow gold, as photographed, gives the cathedral arch a warm architectural weight. White gold and sterling silver make the pave and the centre stone read as one field of light. Rose gold sits between the two. White gold is rhodium finished.

Care

The underside of a cathedral setting is where soap and lotion collect. Clean every few weeks with warm water, mild dish soap and a soft toothbrush, brushing up into the arch and the hidden halo from below. Rinse and dry with a lint free cloth.

What is a cathedral setting? A setting where the shoulders of the band rise in an arch to meet the sides of the centre stone, instead of joining it flat. It adds support and height, and it is one of the oldest ways of setting a large stone securely.

Will this stack with a wedding band? Yes. The higher profile leaves clearance beneath the head, so a straight band sits flush without touching the centre stone.

Is the pave visible from the front? Barely. It is set on the inner faces of the split arch, so it appears from the side and from above at an angle. That is deliberate, so the ring reads as a clean solitaire from across a room and reveals detail up close.
