Emerald Cut Moissanite French Pave Shoulder Engagement Ring

An emerald cut moissanite held low in four slim claws, with a row of round brilliant moissanite running down each shoulder in French pave. The stones graduate very slightly, largest beside the centre and easing down as they travel toward the finger, and they stop about three quarters of the way round so the back of the band stays plain and comfortable.

French pave is the reason this ring looks brighter than an ordinary pave shoulder. The metal is cut away in a small scallop underneath each stone, so light enters from below as well as above and each accent shows more of its own body rather than sitting in a solid channel. From the side you see a row of neat scalloped windows between the beads. It is a fine detail that most people notice without being able to name.

How it compares to our other emerald cut pave rings

We keep every design as its own listing, so here is the difference. Our braided pave band weaves the small stones into a plaited pattern that runs the whole way round the finger. Our octagonal halo ring puts fine pave into a frame around the centre stone as well as on the band. This ring does neither. There is no halo, no braid and no pattern; it is a single clean row of pave down each shoulder on a plain round band, with the metal scalloped out underneath. It is the most classic and the most understated of the three, and the easiest to pair with a wedding band.

Metals and sizes

Choose from 925 sterling silver, or 10K, 14K and 18K gold in yellow, rose and white. All gold is solid, not plated and not filled. White gold is rhodium finished. Because the accents are colorless, white gold and rhodium give the most seamless look, while yellow and rose gold create a warm frame that makes the stones read brighter by contrast. Centre stone sizes run from 2 carat to 5 carat, with the pave scaled to keep the shoulders in proportion.

Made to order in our own workshop

Mapple Gems is a family run workshop in Surat, India. Every ring is cut, set and finished by our own team after you order. The pave on this design is bead set by hand, one stone at a time, and each scallop is cut individually. If you would like the pave to run further round the band, or to stop shorter, tell us in the order notes before we begin.

Care

Moissanite is 9.25 on the Mohs scale and is well suited to daily wear. Clean the ring in warm water with a drop of mild dish soap and a soft brush, brushing under the shoulders where the scallops are open, since that is where lotion and soap collect and dull the pave. Rinse and dry with a soft cloth. Take the ring off before swimming, gardening or gym work. We recommend having the pave beads checked by a jeweller once a year, as with any bead set stones.

Resizing

Because the back of the band is plain, this ring resizes easily by one to two sizes in either direction. Contact us before ordering if you are unsure of the finger size and we will help you measure.

Questions people ask

Is the centre stone a diamond? No. Every stone in this ring is moissanite, a gemstone in its own right. We do not describe it as a diamond.

What is the difference between French pave and normal pave? In French pave a small V shaped notch is cut in the metal beneath each stone, so light passes through from underneath. Standard pave leaves solid metal below the stones.

Will the small stones fall out? Bead set stones are secure when the beads are properly raised, which is done by hand here. An annual check by a jeweller is sensible on any pave ring.

Can I wear a wedding band with it? Yes, and this is one of the easiest of our designs to pair. The low head and the plain back mean a straight band sits close with almost no gap.

Does the price change with carat size? Yes. The 2 carat is the base price and each larger size adds a small amount. The price for each combination is shown when you select it.
