Emerald Cut Moissanite Classic Single Row Pave Engagement Ring

The plainest version of the pave solitaire we make. An emerald cut moissanite in four slim claws, a slender band, and one row of small round accents bead set along each shoulder, stopping a little past halfway. There is no halo, no milgrain, no twist and nothing hidden underneath. Everything about the ring is arranged to leave the centre stone alone.

The band is deliberately narrow at about 1.8 mm. On an emerald cut this matters more than it does with a round stone, because a slim shank exaggerates the length of the rectangle and makes the stone read larger than its carat weight suggests. Under the head is a plain open basket with a single crossbar, so light reaches the stone from below.

Metals and sizes

Choose from 925 sterling silver, or 10K, 14K and 18K gold in yellow, rose and white. All gold is solid, not plated and not filled. White gold is rhodium finished, shown here, which keeps the metal from adding any colour to the centre stone. Centre stone sizes run from 2 carat to 5 carat.

A note on the slim band

At 1.8 mm this shank is thinner than most. It is the right proportion for the design and it wears comfortably, but a narrow band will bend more easily than a wide one if the ring is knocked hard or worn during heavy work. If you would like it made at 2 mm for extra strength, tell us in the order notes and we will do it at no extra cost. Rings above 2 mm are priced with our standard width supplement.

Made to order in our own workshop

Mapple Gems is a family run workshop in Surat, India. Every ring is made by our own team after you order. A plain design gives a setter nowhere to hide, so the pave on this ring is cut and beaded with particular care and the claws are filed to match each other exactly. If you would like the pave carried further down the band, or left off entirely for a completely plain solitaire, tell us before we start.

Care

Moissanite is 9.25 on the Mohs scale and stands up to daily wear. Clean with warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft brush, then rinse and dry with a soft cloth. An emerald cut shows dust on its large flat table more readily than a brilliant does, so a quick wipe every few days keeps it looking its best. Have the pave beads checked once a year.

Resizing

The lower half of the band is plain, so this ring resizes by one to two sizes easily. Contact us before ordering if you are unsure of the finger size and we will help you measure.

Questions people ask

Is the centre stone a diamond? No. Every stone in this ring is moissanite, a gemstone in its own right, and we never describe it as a diamond.

Does an emerald cut sparkle less than a round? It behaves differently. Instead of fine glitter you get broad flashes from long parallel facets. Many people prefer it, and it is why emerald cuts look calmer and more architectural on the hand.

Why does a thin band make the stone look bigger? Because there is less metal beside it for the eye to compare against. It is the simplest way to make a given carat weight read larger.

Can I wear a wedding band with it? Yes. This is the easiest ring in our range to pair, because the shank is slim and the head sits low. A plain or pave band will sit flush against it.

Does the price change with carat size? Yes. The 2 carat is the base price and each larger size adds a small amount. The exact price appears when you select a combination.
