Emerald Cut Moissanite Blue Sapphire Twist Engagement Ring

An emerald cut moissanite in four claws on a shank that splits into two strands and twists. One strand is set with small colorless moissanite, the other with round blue sapphires, and as the two spiral around each other the colour appears and disappears down the shoulder. The band returns to plain metal at the back.

This is the only ring in our emerald cut range with a coloured stone in the shank. The blue does something useful as well as decorative: a colorless step cut centre stone can look very cool and very white on its own, and a line of deep blue beside it gives the eye something to measure that whiteness against. In practice the centre stone looks brighter for having the sapphires next to it.

A note on the sapphires

Sapphire is 9 on the Mohs scale, which is very hard and well suited to an engagement ring worn every day. It is slightly softer than moissanite at 9.25, so over many years the sapphires may show fine surface wear a little sooner than the moissanite around them. Both are far harder than the metal holding them. Sapphire colour varies naturally from stone to stone; we select for a consistent deep blue across each ring, but no two rings will be identical.

How it compares to our other emerald cut twist rings

We list every design separately. Our hidden halo pave twist and our marquise vine twist both use colorless stones only, and both add something at the head, a hidden halo in one case and marquise leaves in the other. This ring adds nothing at the head at all. The entire idea is the two coloured lines spiralling down the shoulders, which is why the centre stone is held in plain slim claws with nothing around it.

Metals and sizes

Choose from 925 sterling silver, or 10K, 14K and 18K gold in yellow, rose and white. All gold is solid, not plated and not filled. White gold is rhodium finished and is the metal shown here, which gives the strongest contrast with the blue. In yellow gold the blue reads warmer and more antique. Centre stone sizes run from 2 carat to 5 carat.

Made to order in our own workshop

Mapple Gems is a family run workshop in Surat, India. Every ring is made by our own team once you order. The two strands are formed and twisted first, then each line is set separately so the colours stay cleanly divided. If you would prefer both strands in colorless moissanite, or the sapphires replaced with another colour, tell us in the order notes before we begin.

Care

Clean with warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft brush, working along both pave lines and into the gap between the strands. Rinse and dry with a soft cloth. Avoid ultrasonic cleaners on this ring; they are generally safe for moissanite but we do not recommend them where coloured stones are involved. Take the ring off before swimming, gardening or gym work, and have the bead settings checked once a year.

Resizing

The strands rejoin into a plain band at the back, so this ring can usually be resized by one size in either direction. Contact us before ordering if you are unsure of the finger size and we will help you measure.

Questions people ask

Is the centre stone a diamond? No. The centre and the colorless accents are moissanite, a gemstone in its own right. We do not describe it as a diamond.

Are the blue stones real sapphires? Yes, they are sapphires. They are the only stones in this ring that are not moissanite.

Will the blue fade? No. Sapphire colour is stable and does not fade with light or normal wear.

Can I wear a wedding band with it? A straight band sits well against the plain back of the shank. A contoured band follows the twist more closely at the front.

Does the price change with carat size? Yes. The 2 carat is the base price and each larger size adds a small amount. The exact price appears when you select a combination.
