Oval Moissanite Ring with Pear and Round Side Clusters
A small cluster on each shoulder instead of a halo. How it makes the ring wider while leaving the oval completely open.
Written by the Mapple Gems workshop, Surat Β· Updated 13 October 2026
Short answer: This ring sets an oval moissanite with a small cluster on each side: two round moissanites tight against the oval and a pear pointing outward along the shank. It widens the head without a halo, so the ovalβs outline stays fully visible. It is made to order on a plain rounded band in 925 silver or solid 10K, 14K or 18K gold, from 2 to 5 carats.
A halo makes a stone look bigger by surrounding it. This ring does it differently: it extends the head sideways with a small cluster on each shoulder, so the ring covers more of the finger while the oval itself stays open on all sides. Our latest order was a 3 carat oval in sterling silver.
Side clusters compared with a halo
| Halo | Side clusters (this ring) | |
|---|---|---|
| Centre outline | Framed by stones | Open and visible |
| Where it adds size | All round | Across the finger |
| Number of accents | Often 20 or more | Six |
| Look | Glamorous | Romantic, botanical |
Fewer accents means fewer settings to look after, and the pears pointing outward give the ring a gentle, leaf-like line along the shank. The two outward pear points should each sit under a prong, the same as any pear.
From the workshop
Our latest customer chose a 3 carat oval in sterling silver. Because the clusters sit on the shoulders, they are the part of the ring that meets the world first β the edge of a desk, a car door, the side of a bag. In silver (about Mohs 2.6), the small prongs holding those accents wear sooner than the centreβs. Look at them every few months and have them checked once a year. The plain band underneath is the good news: it can be resized normally, which many decorated rings cannot.
Before you order: a short checklist
- Ask for the ovalβs millimetres and the total width across the clusters.
- Confirm a prong sits over each outward pear point.
- Check the head on the CAD side view.
- Choose 14K gold for daily wear; silver for trying the design.
- Plan a wedding band that sits below the clusters.

Frequently asked questions
What is a side cluster ring?
A ring with small groups of accent stones on each shoulder instead of a halo, widening the head while leaving the centre stone open.
Does this ring make the oval look bigger?
It makes the whole head wider across the finger, so the ring reads larger, while the oval itself keeps its natural outline.
Can this ring be resized?
Yes. The band is plain and rounded, so normal resizing is possible.
How many accent stones does it have?
Six: on each side, two rounds against the oval and one pear pointing outward.
Is a cluster ring good in silver?
Yes for occasional wear or trying the design. For daily wear, 14K gold holds the small prongs better.
