Oval Cut Moissanite Full Eternity Band: A Buyer’s Guide

Oval stones side by side, all the way round. How ovals change the look of an eternity band, and the decision you have to get right first.

Written by the Mapple Gems workshop, Surat Β· Updated 13 October 2026

Short answer: This full eternity band sets oval moissanites (about 2.00 ct total) side by side all the way round, in prongs. Ovals give a softer, more flowing line than rounds. It is made to order in 925 silver or solid 10K, 14K or 18K gold. Because stones go all the way round, it cannot be resized, so measure carefully.

Most eternity bands use round stones. Ovals, laid end to end along the band, make a gentler, continuous wave of light and show more stone per millimetre of band. It is a band that holds its own beside an oval engagement ring or on its own. Our latest order was in 14K yellow gold.

Getting the size right

A full eternity band cannot be made larger or smaller. Measure at the time of day your fingers are largest, using the inside diameter of a ring that already fits that finger, in millimetres. Avoid converting between sizing systems more than once. If you will wear it next to an engagement ring, measure with both rings on. Wider stone-set bands often feel slightly tighter than thin plain ones, so size for the band you are buying.

From the workshop

Our latest customer chose this band in 14K yellow gold β€” a good choice for an eternity band. 14K is harder than 18K, so the prongs holding each oval wear more slowly, and yellow gold never needs re-plating. The stones on the underside of a full eternity band take far more knocks than those on top. Once a month, roll the band and look at the underside stones; if one looks raised or loose, stop wearing it and have it checked. And keep it in its own pouch: moissanite (Mohs 9.25) will scratch every other piece it touches.

Before you order: a short checklist

  1. Measure in the evening, in millimetres, from a ring that fits.
  2. Size with your engagement ring on if you will stack.
  3. Choose 14K gold for daily wear.
  4. Consider a half eternity if your size may change.
  5. Plan a setting check every one to two years.

Frequently asked questions

What is an oval eternity band?

A band set with oval stones all the way round the finger, end to end.

Can a full eternity band be resized?

No. There is no plain metal left to adjust, so the size must be right when it is made.

How many carats is the band?

About 2.00 carats in total, varying slightly with ring size.

Does an oval eternity band suit an oval engagement ring?

Yes, the shapes echo each other. It also works with other elongated centres.

Which gold is best for an eternity band?

14K. It is harder than 18K, so the prongs wear more slowly.
