Round Moissanite Hidden Halo Ring with Marquise Accent Band: A Buyerβs Guide
The most brilliant shape, lifted on a hidden halo, above a band of alternating marquise and round stones. What size does to a round moissanite, and how to choose yours.

Short answer: This ring sets a round brilliant moissanite in prongs above a hidden halo of small stones, on a band of alternating marquise and round accents with milgrain detail. It is made to order in 925 silver or solid 10K, 14K or 18K gold, from 2 to 5 carats. A round moissanite shows more coloured fire the larger it gets, so size and metal both change the look.
The round brilliant is the shape that started modern engagement rings, and it is the most brilliant cut there is. This design keeps the centre classic and puts its personality into the details: a hidden halo you see from the side, and a band where marquise and round stones alternate in a vintage rhythm. Our latest order went big β a 5 carat stone in sterling silver.
Bigger round moissanite, more fire
Moissaniteβs dispersion is 0.104, more than twice diamondβs 0.044, which shows as coloured flashes. Dispersion needs depth to develop, so a larger stone shows more of it. A small round moissanite reads almost like a white diamond; a large one throws noticeable rainbow light, especially in direct sun. And the round brilliant is the most fiery moissanite shape of all.
| Size option | Approx. diameter | Fire |
|---|---|---|
| 2 carat | About 8 mm | Lively, mostly white sparkle |
| 3 carat | About 9 mm | Clear colour flashes in sun |
| 4 carat | About 10 mm | Strong rainbow fire |
| 5 carat | About 11 mm | Very strong, unmistakably moissanite |
Diameters are approximate; ask for the exact millimetres of your stone. If you love fire, a large round is the most dazzling ring we make. If you want it calmer, choose yellow or rose gold, which reflect warmth into the stone and soften the rainbow more than any other choice.
The hidden halo and the height
A hidden halo sits under the centre stone, so from above the ring looks like a solitaire, and the halo shows as a line of sparkle from the side. To make room for it, the stone sits higher. Combined with a large round, that means a tall head β more likely to catch on gloves and bags, and with more leverage if it is knocked. Look at the side view of the CAD preview before approving.
The marquise accent band
Alternating marquise and round accents give the band a delicate, antique rhythm, and milgrain beading softens the edges. Marquise stones have two points each, so they should be held so their tips are protected. As with any stone-set band, get the size right first, because there is little plain metal to resize, and expect a plain wedding band worn against it to show wear where they touch.
From the workshop
Our latest customer chose a 5 carat round β roughly 11 mm across β in sterling silver. It is a showpiece, and we want owners of rings like it to know the two things that matter. First, a stone that large sits high and wide, so it takes more knocks than a small one; the prongs are the part that wears, and in silver (about Mohs 2.6) they wear sooner than in gold. Have them checked every year, not every two. Second, expect the fire. At 11 mm a moissanite shows bold coloured flashes, and many owners love that. If you would rather tone it down, a yellow gold version of the same design is the gentlest change you can make.
Before you order: a short checklist
- Ask for the exact millimetres of your chosen size and try a paper circle on the finger.
- Decide how much fire you want: white metal for most, yellow or rose for less.
- Check the side view of the CAD for head height.
- Get your size right first; the stone-set band limits resizing.
- Choose 14K gold for daily wear, especially at 4 and 5 carats.

Frequently asked questions
Does a larger moissanite show more rainbow colours?
Yes. Dispersion develops with depth, so the bigger the stone, the stronger the coloured fire. Round brilliants show the most of any shape.
How big is a 5 carat round moissanite?
About 11 mm across. Moissanite is sold by millimetres with a diamond-equivalent carat figure, so always confirm the exact diameter.
How can I make a moissanite look less fiery?
Choose yellow or rose gold, which warm the stone and soften the coloured flashes, or a smaller size. Diffuse light also shows less fire than direct sun.
Can you see the hidden halo from above?
No. It sits under the centre stone and shows from the side, which keeps the top view a classic solitaire.
Can this ring be resized?
Only within limits, because accents line the band. Measure the inside diameter of a ring that already fits and get the size right before ordering.
