Oval Moissanite Solitaire Bridal Set: A Buyer’s Guide

One oval, a plain shank and a matching band that sits flush beside it. Why the simplest bridal set is often the one that ages best.

Written by the Mapple Gems workshop, Surat Β· Updated 13 October 2026

Short answer: This bridal set pairs a classic oval moissanite solitaire with a matching wedding band, made to order in 925 silver or solid 10K, 14K or 18K gold, in five sizes from 2 carats (9 Γ— 7 mm) to 4 carats (12.5 Γ— 8.5 mm). A solitaire set is the easiest to live with: few settings to check, and a band that sits flush with no gap.

Halo and three stone sets are glamorous, but they come with more settings and awkward band fits. A solitaire set keeps everything simple: the oval does the talking and the band sits neatly beside it. It is one of our earliest bestsellers. Our latest order was in 14K yellow gold.

From the workshop

Our latest customer chose this set in 14K yellow gold, and it is the combination we would suggest for a first bridal set. 14K holds the prongs well, yellow gold never needs re-plating, and the warm metal softens moissanite’s rainbow fire into a gentle glow. Ordering the two rings together means the band is made to the same karat and finish as the engagement ring β€” important, because 14K beside 18K yellow looks visibly different. Store the two rings in separate pouches; moissanite is far harder than gold.

Before you order: a short checklist

  1. Choose the oval’s shape (ratio) and size from the table.
  2. Do a paper test at your chosen millimetres.
  3. Size the two rings together, as you will wear them.
  4. Choose 14K gold for daily wear.
  5. Store the rings separately.

Frequently asked questions

What is in a solitaire bridal set?

A solitaire engagement ring and a matching wedding band, made together.

What sizes does the set come in?

Five oval sizes, from 2 carats (9 Γ— 7 mm) to 4 carats (12.5 Γ— 8.5 mm).

Does the band sit flush with the ring?

Yes. A solitaire is the style most likely to take a straight band flush.

Can I upgrade the stone later?

A solitaire’s head can be rebuilt for a larger stone more easily than any other style.

Which gold is best?

14K for daily wear; it holds prongs well. Match both rings to the same karat.
