Elongated Cushion Three Stone Ring with Inward-Facing Pears

Two pears leaning in towards a soft cushion centre, held low on a slim band. How it differs from the points-out version, and which to choose.

Written by the Mapple Gems workshop, Surat Β· Updated 13 October 2026

Short answer: This three stone ring sets an elongated cushion moissanite between two pears whose points angle inward towards the centre, on a slim polished band with a low gallery. It is made to order in 925 silver or solid 10K, 14K or 18K gold, from 2 to 5 carats. Inward-facing pears make a softer, more compact head than pears turned outward.

We make two elongated cushion three stone rings with pear sides. In the other design, the pears point outward for a wide, dramatic outline. In this one they lean inward, as if framing the centre. Our latest order was a 3 carat centre in sterling silver.

Cushion moissanite three stone pear ring profile detail

Pears in or pears out?

Pears facing in (this ring) Pears facing out
Outline Soft, compact Wide, tapering to points
Where the points sit Beside the centre, sheltered At the edges, exposed
Feel Romantic, framing Dramatic, bold

With the points turned in, they sit beside the centre stone rather than at the ring’s outer edge, so they are less exposed to knocks. They still need V-prongs, but this layout is the more protective of the two.

Low gallery, slim band

A low gallery holds all three stones close to the finger, which makes the ring comfortable and less likely to catch. Three stone rings put stones side by side, so matching matters: moissanite isn’t lab graded, so ask for the three to be chosen together and see them on video. A three stone head is wider than its band, so plan a contour band or one fitted to this ring.

From the workshop

Our latest customer chose a 3 carat centre in sterling silver. A low gallery is the right partner for silver: less height means less leverage on the prongs every time the hand meets something, and silver (about Mohs 2.6) wears at the prongs before anywhere else. The slim band is where to ask a question β€” its thickness at the base should be at least 1.8 mm for daily wear. If this becomes your everyday ring, 14K gold keeps the same look with much longer-lasting prongs.

Before you order: a short checklist

  1. Decide between pears facing in (this ring) and pears facing out.
  2. See all three stones together on video before setting.
  3. Confirm V-prongs on each pear point.
  4. Ask for band thickness at the base: 1.8 mm or more.
  5. Plan a contour band or one made with the ring.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between pears facing in and facing out?

Facing in gives a softer, compact head with the points sheltered beside the centre. Facing out gives a wider, more dramatic outline with exposed points.

Why choose a low gallery?

It keeps the stones close to the finger, so the ring is comfortable and less likely to catch or take knocks.

How are the three moissanites matched?

By eye under the same light, because moissanite is not laboratory graded. Ask to see them together on video.

Will a straight wedding band fit?

Usually not flush, because the head is wider than the band. A contour band works better.

Is this ring good in silver?

Yes for occasional wear or trying the design. For everyday wear, 14K gold holds the prongs much longer.
