Elongated Cushion Moissanite Hidden Halo Pavé Ring: A Buyer’s Guide
A soft, pillowy rectangle on a pavé band, with a secret halo underneath. Why the elongated cushion is so flattering, and what to ask about its facets.
Written by the Mapple Gems workshop, Surat · Updated 13 October 2026
Short answer: This ring sets an elongated cushion moissanite above a hidden halo of micro-pavé, on a slim pavé band. It is made to order in 925 silver or solid 10K, 14K or 18K gold, from 2 to 5 carats. The elongated shape lengthens the finger, and the cushion’s faceting style — crushed ice or chunky — changes the look, so ask which it is.
An elongated cushion is a soft rectangle with rounded corners: romantic like an oval, structured like a radiant. This ring adds sparkle down the band and a hidden halo under the stone, so it glitters from every angle while the cushion’s outline stays clean. Our latest order was a 3 carat cushion in sterling silver.
Crushed ice or chunky?
| Crushed ice cushion | Chunky cushion | |
|---|---|---|
| Facets | Many small | Fewer, larger |
| Look | Fine glitter | Bold, vintage flashes |
| Moissanite fire | Constant shimmer | Fewer, larger colour flashes |
Neither is better. Moissanite’s dispersion (0.104, more than twice diamond’s) shows differently in each: crushed ice spreads it into a sparkle, chunky gathers it into bigger flashes. Look at the stone on video before it is set.
The pavé and hidden halo
The pavé band and hidden halo use very small moissanites. Stones this small are too shallow for strong fire, so they look bright and white, framing the cushion’s colour. The hidden halo lifts the stone slightly; check the side view on the CAD preview. Pavé limits resizing, so get your size right before ordering.
From the workshop
Our latest customer chose a 3 carat cushion in sterling silver. With a pavé band and a hidden halo, this ring holds many small stones, and in silver (about Mohs 2.6) the tiny beads holding them are what wear first. Two habits help: have the settings checked once a year, and clean the ring from underneath every couple of weeks — film collects under the hidden halo and dulls the centre long before anything is wrong. If this becomes your everyday ring, 14K gold keeps the same look with much longer-lasting settings.
Before you order: a short checklist
- Ask whether the cushion is crushed ice or chunky, and see it on video.
- Ask for the cushion’s millimetres at your chosen carat; do a paper test.
- Check head height on the CAD side view.
- Get your size right first; pavé limits resizing.
- Choose 14K gold for daily wear.

Frequently asked questions
What is an elongated cushion cut?
A cushion cut longer than it is wide: a soft rectangle with rounded corners and brilliant facets.
What is the difference between crushed ice and chunky cushions?
Crushed ice cushions have many small facets and a fine glitter; chunky cushions have fewer, larger facets and bolder flashes.
Does an elongated cushion make fingers look longer?
Yes. Set north-south, its length runs along the finger and lengthens it.
Can this ring be resized?
Only within limits, because pavé lines the band.
How do I keep it sparkling?
Soak it in warm soapy water for five minutes and brush gently from underneath, under the hidden halo, every couple of weeks.
