Trapezoid Cut Lab Grown Diamond Three Stone Bezel Engagement Ring, E Color VVS2

A three stone ring built from trapezoid cut lab grown diamonds, each one bezel set in its own frame of metal on a clean band. The trapezoid is a step cut with four straight sides, one longer than the other, and it is almost never used as a centre stone, which is exactly why this ring looks like nothing else. Setting three of them side by side in individual bezels turns the design into something closer to modern sculpture than traditional jewellery, all straight lines and flat planes with no prongs interrupting the geometry. Every diamond is a laboratory grown diamond, identical in carbon structure, hardness and brilliance to a mined diamond, graded E colour and VVS2 clarity. Each ring is made to order in our own Surat workshop and ships with a free IGI certificate for the centre stone.

Metal options

This ring is made to order in ten metal choices, so you can match it to jewellery you already wear.

  • 925 Sterling Silver
  • 10K Yellow Gold, 10K Rose Gold, 10K White Gold
  • 14K Yellow Gold, 14K Rose Gold, 14K White Gold
  • 18K Yellow Gold, 18K Rose Gold, 18K White Gold

All gold options are solid gold, never plated or filled. White gold is finished with rhodium for a bright white surface and softens the divisions between the three bezels. Yellow gold is the metal shown in the photographs and it draws each frame distinctly, which suits the geometric character of the design.

Ring size

Choose your ring size at checkout. We make every size from US 3 to US 13, including half sizes, at no additional cost. If you are unsure of the size, order anyway and contact us after checkout, we will help you confirm it before the ring goes into production.

Custom orders

Want the three stones set in a single continuous bezel rather than three separate frames, a different stone shape for the sides, wider or narrower metal between the bezels, engraving inside the shank, or a matching flat band to stack alongside, we can make it. For any other customization request please contact us at https://mapplegems.com/pages/contact and we will quote it for you.

Frequently asked questions

What is a trapezoid cut diamond

A trapezoid is a four sided step cut with two parallel sides of different lengths and two sloping sides, giving it a tapered outline. Because step cut facets run in long straight lines, it reflects light in broad flashes rather than the scattered sparkle of a brilliant. Trapezoids are most often used as side stones flanking a larger centre, so using them as the whole design is unusual.

What does the carat weight refer to on a three stone ring

On this design the carat selection is the total weight across all three stones together, not the weight of the centre stone alone. That is the same convention we use on our other multi stone rings, so the figure you select is the total diamond weight you receive.

Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond

Yes. A lab grown diamond is real diamond. It has the same carbon crystal structure, the same hardness of 10 on the Mohs scale, the same refractive index and the same fire and brilliance as a mined diamond. The only difference is that it was grown in a controlled laboratory over a few weeks instead of underground over billions of years. No jeweller can tell the difference by eye, only specialist equipment reading growth patterns can separate the two.

Why bezel set a step cut stone

Step cuts have straight edges and flat planes, and a bezel echoes that geometry in a way prongs cannot. It also protects the corners, which are the thinnest points of any four sided stone, and it keeps the profile low so the ring sits flat against the finger and under gloves. For a design built entirely on straight lines, a bezel is the natural setting.

Does this ring come with a certificate

Yes. Every ring ships with a free IGI certificate for the centre stone. IGI is the International Gemological Institute, one of the largest independent diamond grading laboratories in the world. The certificate confirms the carat weight, the E colour grade, the VVS2 clarity grade and the laboratory grown origin. There is no extra charge for the certificate.

Why does clarity matter more on a step cut

Step cuts have large open facets and no busy sparkle to distract the eye, so anything inside the stone is easier to see than it would be in a brilliant cut. That is why we set only VVS2 clarity in this design. At VVS2 any inclusions need 10x magnification to find, so the open facets stay clean across all three stones.

What does E colour VVS2 actually mean

E colour is the second highest grade on the diamond colour scale and sits inside the colourless range, so the diamond looks bright white with no warm or yellow tint. VVS2 means very very slightly included, the second highest clarity tier. Any inclusions are so small that a trained grader needs 10x magnification to find them and they are completely invisible to the naked eye.

Why buy a lab grown diamond

A lab grown diamond gives you a materially identical stone for a fraction of the price of a mined equivalent, which matters especially on a three stone design where you are buying meaningful weight three times over. Because the origin of every stone is documented from the moment it is grown, a lab grown diamond is conflict free by definition. Growing a diamond also avoids the open pit excavation, land disruption and water use that mining a comparable stone requires, so the environmental cost is considerably lower.
