Radiant Cut Lab Grown Diamond Double Prong Solitaire Engagement Ring, E Color VVS2

A radiant cut lab grown diamond held in double prongs on a fine plain band. Instead of one claw at each corner there are two, set side by side, which is a detail borrowed from antique jewellery and rarely seen on modern rings. The pairs read as small deliberate marks around the stone rather than disappearing the way single prongs do, and they grip a large radiant more securely across its trimmed corners. Everything else is left plain so the crushed ice sparkle of the cut has nothing to compete with. Every diamond is a laboratory grown diamond, identical in carbon structure, hardness and brilliance to a mined diamond, graded E colour and VVS2 clarity. Each ring is made to order in our own Surat workshop and ships with a free IGI certificate for the centre stone.

Metal options

This ring is made to order in ten metal choices, so you can match it to jewellery you already wear.

  • 925 Sterling Silver
  • 10K Yellow Gold, 10K Rose Gold, 10K White Gold
  • 14K Yellow Gold, 14K Rose Gold, 14K White Gold
  • 18K Yellow Gold, 18K Rose Gold, 18K White Gold

All gold options are solid gold, never plated or filled. White gold is finished with rhodium for a bright white surface and lets the double prongs blend into the stone. Yellow gold is the metal shown in the photographs and it makes each pair of claws read clearly against the diamond, which is the point of the detail.

Ring size

Choose your ring size at checkout. We make every size from US 3 to US 13, including half sizes, at no additional cost. If you are unsure of the size, order anyway and contact us after checkout, we will help you confirm it before the ring goes into production.

Custom orders

Want single prongs instead of doubles, a bezel setting, pave along the shoulders, a hidden halo beneath the stone, a different centre shape, engraving inside the shank, or a matching wedding band that sits flush against this one, we can make it. For any other customization request please contact us at https://mapplegems.com/pages/contact and we will quote it for you.

Frequently asked questions

What is a double prong setting

A double prong setting uses two claws at each holding point instead of one, so a four point setting has eight prongs in total, arranged in pairs. It is an older style, common in Victorian and Edwardian rings, and it does two things. It holds the stone more securely, because each pair shares the load, and it adds a visible decorative rhythm around the diamond that a single prong setting does not have.

What is a radiant cut diamond

A radiant is a rectangular or square stone with cropped corners and brilliant style faceting. It was created to combine the elegant outline of an emerald cut with the fire of a round brilliant. Unlike an emerald cut, which shows long open steps and reflects light in broad flashes, a radiant scatters light in many small bursts, an effect often described as crushed ice.

Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond

Yes. A lab grown diamond is real diamond. It has the same carbon crystal structure, the same hardness of 10 on the Mohs scale, the same refractive index and the same fire and brilliance as a mined diamond. The only difference is that it was grown in a controlled laboratory over a few weeks instead of underground over billions of years. No jeweller can tell the difference by eye, only specialist equipment reading growth patterns can separate the two.

Are double prongs more secure

Yes, meaningfully so on a larger stone. If a single prong is damaged or wears thin the stone is immediately at risk, whereas with a pair the second claw still holds while the first is repaired. That redundancy is why the style was used on important stones historically, and why we recommend it for the 4 and 5 carat options here.

Does this ring come with a certificate

Yes. Every ring ships with a free IGI certificate for the centre stone. IGI is the International Gemological Institute, one of the largest independent diamond grading laboratories in the world. The certificate confirms the carat weight, the E colour grade, the VVS2 clarity grade and the laboratory grown origin. There is no extra charge for the certificate.

How is a radiant different from a cushion cut

Both are squared shapes with brilliant faceting, but the corners tell them apart. A radiant has straight, trimmed corners that give it a defined geometric outline, while a cushion has softly rounded corners that make it look like a pillow. A radiant reads sharper and more modern.

What does E colour VVS2 actually mean

E colour is the second highest grade on the diamond colour scale and sits inside the colourless range, so the diamond looks bright white with no warm or yellow tint. VVS2 means very very slightly included, the second highest clarity tier. Any inclusions are so small that a trained grader needs 10x magnification to find them and they are completely invisible to the naked eye.

Why buy a lab grown diamond

A lab grown diamond gives you a materially identical stone for a fraction of the price of a mined equivalent, which is what makes a 4 carat or 5 carat radiant centre realistic on a normal budget. That matters more here than on most designs, because a solitaire has nowhere to hide, the size and quality of the single stone is the whole ring. Because the origin of every stone is documented from the moment it is grown, a lab grown diamond is conflict free by definition. Growing a diamond also avoids the open pit excavation, land disruption and water use that mining a comparable stone requires.
