Marquise Cut Lab Grown Diamond Engagement Ring with Starburst Halo Cluster, E Color VVS2

A marquise cut lab grown diamond at the centre of a starburst cluster, with accent stones radiating outward from the centre stone like rays rather than sitting in the even ring of a conventional halo. The accents step down in size as they move away from the marquise, which is what creates the burst effect and stops the cluster reading as a simple frame. It is a decorative, distinctly vintage design, closer to an antique cluster brooch than a modern solitaire, and it wears much larger on the hand than the centre stone alone would suggest. Every diamond is a laboratory grown diamond, identical in carbon structure, hardness and brilliance to a mined diamond, graded E colour and VVS2 clarity. Each ring is made to order in our own Surat workshop and ships with a free IGI certificate for the centre stone.

Metal options

This ring is made to order in ten metal choices, so you can match it to jewellery you already wear.

  • 925 Sterling Silver
  • 10K Yellow Gold, 10K Rose Gold, 10K White Gold
  • 14K Yellow Gold, 14K Rose Gold, 14K White Gold
  • 18K Yellow Gold, 18K Rose Gold, 18K White Gold

All gold options are solid gold, never plated or filled. White gold is finished with rhodium for a bright white surface and lets the cluster merge into one continuous field of light. Yellow and rose gold separate each accent visually and lean into the antique character of the design.

Ring size

Choose your ring size at checkout. We make every size from US 3 to US 13, including half sizes, at no additional cost. If you are unsure of the size, order anyway and contact us after checkout, we will help you confirm it before the ring goes into production.

Custom orders

Want a tighter conventional halo instead of the starburst, fewer or more accent stones, milgrain detailing added to the edges, a different centre shape, engraving inside the shank, or a contoured wedding band shaped to sit around the cluster, we can make it. For any other customization request please contact us at https://mapplegems.com/pages/contact and we will quote it for you.

Frequently asked questions

What is a starburst halo

A starburst halo is a cluster where the accent stones radiate outward from the centre stone rather than sitting in a single even ring around it. The stones usually graduate in size, largest nearest the centre, which creates the impression of light bursting away from the diamond. It is a design borrowed from antique and Art Deco jewellery, where clusters were used to build presence from many small stones.

Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond

Yes. A lab grown diamond is real diamond. It has the same carbon crystal structure, the same hardness of 10 on the Mohs scale, the same refractive index and the same fire and brilliance as a mined diamond. The only difference is that it was grown in a controlled laboratory over a few weeks instead of underground over billions of years. No jeweller can tell the difference by eye, only specialist equipment reading growth patterns can separate the two.

How large does this ring wear on the hand

Considerably larger than the centre stone alone. Because the cluster spreads outward, the overall face up size of the design is well beyond the marquise itself, which is exactly why cluster settings were historically used to make a modest stone look substantial. Here it is paired with a full size centre stone, so the effect is emphatic.

Are the pointed tips of a marquise diamond fragile

The tips are the most vulnerable part of a marquise, which is why they are always protected by prongs on a well made ring. On this setting the tips are held securely and the surrounding cluster gives them additional shelter. Worn normally the stone is durable. As with any diamond ring, remove it for gym work, gardening and heavy lifting.

Does this ring come with a certificate

Yes. Every ring ships with a free IGI certificate for the centre stone. IGI is the International Gemological Institute, one of the largest independent diamond grading laboratories in the world. The certificate confirms the carat weight, the E colour grade, the VVS2 clarity grade and the laboratory grown origin. There is no extra charge for the certificate.

Is a cluster ring harder to clean

It has more settings and therefore more places for dust to collect than a plain solitaire, so it benefits from a more regular clean. Warm water, a drop of washing up liquid and a soft toothbrush is all it needs, and a few minutes every few weeks keeps the accents bright. We include cleaning guidance with every order.

What does E colour VVS2 actually mean

E colour is the second highest grade on the diamond colour scale and sits inside the colourless range, so the diamond looks bright white with no warm or yellow tint. VVS2 means very very slightly included, the second highest clarity tier. Any inclusions are so small that a trained grader needs 10x magnification to find them and they are completely invisible to the naked eye.

Why buy a lab grown diamond

A lab grown diamond gives you a materially identical stone for a fraction of the price of a mined equivalent, which is what makes a 4 carat or 5 carat marquise centre realistic on a normal budget, and it applies to every accent in the cluster too. Because the origin of every stone is documented from the moment it is grown, a lab grown diamond is conflict free by definition. Growing a diamond also avoids the open pit excavation, land disruption and water use that mining a comparable stone requires, so the environmental cost is considerably lower.
