Which Metal Suits Moissanite Best?
This is a stone question, not a taste question β metal colour changes how moissanite reads.
General metal advice tells you about durability, colour and budget. All true, all covered elsewhere. But it misses something specific to this stone: moissanite bends light harder than diamond does, and the metal sitting underneath it changes what you actually see.
So the question "which metal is best" has a different answer for moissanite than it does for a diamond or a sapphire. Here is why.
The one property that drives everything

Two consequences follow, and between them they answer the metal question.
Warm metals warm the stone. A colourless stone set in yellow or rose gold picks up a hint of that warmth, especially near the girdle and through the pavilion. In a diamond this is mild. In moissanite, which is already dispersing light aggressively, it is more visible.
Larger stones amplify the effect. Below about a carat it is barely noticeable. At two carats and above it is a real design decision.

Platinum is the most wear-resistant and holds prongs best over decades. 14K gold is the practical daily-wear choice and harder than 18K. 18K is richer in colour but softer. One thing to know about white gold
White gold is not naturally white. It is plated with rhodium to achieve that colour, and the plating wears β what rhodium plating is covers it. As it thins, a warmer tone shows through, which means a white gold setting chosen specifically to keep a large moissanite reading cold will drift over several years unless it is replated.
Platinum does not have this issue. If the cold-white look matters to you long term, that is the argument for it.
