Radiant Moissanite Three Stone Ring: A Buyerβs Guide
Three radiants in a row β past, present and future. Why one shape repeated three times looks so unified, and what to check before you order.
Written by the Mapple Gems workshop, Surat Β· Updated 13 October 2026
Short answer: This ring sets a radiant cut moissanite between two smaller, graduated radiants, low and secure on a clean band. It is made to order in 925 silver or solid 10K, 14K or 18K gold, with centre stones from 2 to 5 carats and side stones proportioned to match. Ask to see all three stones together before setting, because matching matters more than grades.
Three stone rings traditionally stand for past, present and future. Most mix shapes β a round with pears, an oval with baguettes. This one repeats the radiant three times, so the head reads as one clean, rectangular unit across the finger. Our latest order was a 4 carat centre in sterling silver.
One shape, three times
| Three stone style | Look | Matching challenge |
|---|---|---|
| Matching shapes (this ring) | Unified, geometric | Highest β any difference shows |
| Brilliant centre, step-cut sides | Contrast | Lower |
| Mixed brilliant shapes | Romantic | Moderate |
When three stones share a shape, the eye compares them directly. Moissanite is not graded by any laboratory, so matching is done by eye. Ask that the three be selected together under the same light, and see them side by side on video before setting.
Width, height and the wedding band
Three radiants across the finger make a wide head. Ask for the total width and lay a paper rectangle across your finger. The low setting keeps the head close to the hand, which is practical, but three stone heads rarely take a straight wedding band flush. Consider a contour band, a thin spacer, or ordering the band with the ring so it is fitted to this head.
From the workshop
Our latest customer chose a 4 carat radiant centre in sterling silver. With graduated sides, that makes one of the widest heads we set. A low setting is the right call for a ring this wide β a tall three stone head catches on everything. The parts that work hardest are the corner prongs, twelve of them across three radiants, and in silver (about Mohs 2.6) they wear sooner than in gold. Look at them every few months and have them checked yearly. A flattened prong tip is the early signal, long before a stone is at risk.
Before you order: a short checklist
- Ask for the total width across all three stones; do a paper test.
- See the three stones together on video before setting.
- Confirm a prong over every radiant corner.
- Plan the wedding band now; three stone heads rarely sit flush with a straight band.
- Choose 14K gold for daily wear, especially at 4 and 5 carats.

Frequently asked questions
What does a three stone ring symbolise?
Traditionally the past, present and future of a relationship.
How are the three moissanites matched?
By eye, under the same light, because moissanite is not laboratory graded. Ask to see them together on video.
Does a three stone ring sit high?
This one is set low, keeping the wide head close to the finger.
Will a straight wedding band fit?
Usually not flush. A contour band, a thin spacer, or a band made with the ring works better.
Are the side stones radiants too?
Yes. Both are radiant cut moissanites, graduated and proportioned to the centre.
