This pairing is the most dynamic version of it. Both stones are pointed cuts, so instead of the gentle symmetry you get from two rounds or two ovals, the pear and the marquise create a sweeping, slightly asymmetric line that moves across the finger. Because the two stones sit together with metal visible between and around them, the setting colour affects how unified the pair looks. White gold lets them read as one continuous shape; yellow and rose separate them into two distinct stones. For everyday wear 14K is harder than 18K, which matters here because both cuts have points to protect.

Frequently asked questions

How is the carat split between the two stones?
The carat you choose is the total weight across both diamonds, divided to keep the pear and marquise in proportion. Tell us if you would prefer one stone noticeably larger than the other and we will quote it.

What does toi et moi mean?
French for you and me. The two stones represent two people, which is why the style is chosen for engagements and significant anniversaries. The design dates to the late eighteenth century and has come back into fashion repeatedly since.

Why pear and marquise rather than two matching stones?
Contrast. Two identical stones give you balance and symmetry; a pear beside a marquise gives you movement, because the two outlines are different and the eye travels along them. If you prefer the symmetrical version, we also build a pear and oval toi et moi.

Are the points vulnerable?
Both cuts have points, and both are set under V prongs that cap the thinnest parts in metal. That is not optional on these shapes and we do not build them any other way.

Will a wedding band sit flush?
Not perfectly, because the two stone head is wider and less regular than a solitaire. A contoured band is the better pairing and we can make one to match.

Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond?
Yes. Same carbon structure, hardness and brilliance as a mined diamond. Only the origin differs.

Do I get a certificate?

How long does it take to make?
