A large round brilliant lab grown diamond held in six tapered claws over a concealed halo, on a wide plain band with a rounded outer face and no accent stones.

Six claws instead of four is a decision about a large stone. As a round brilliant grows past two carats the span between four claws gets long enough that the girdle is unsupported over most of its circumference, and the stone can rock slightly in the setting under a hard knock. Six claws divide the same circle into shorter unsupported arcs, which is why serious stones have traditionally been set this way. The visual cost is that six points of metal break up the outline more than four do, and the design answers that by making each claw long, thin and tapered so the metal reads as six fine lines rather than six blocks. Underneath, a concealed halo runs around the basket, invisible from above and clearly visible in profile, and the band is left wide, heavy and completely plain, because the ring already has a great deal happening at the head and a decorated shank would make it restless.

The band is wide by the standards of a solitaire, with a rounded outer face and a polished finish. It carries no stones and no taper, and the inside is comfort rounded.

Choose 925 sterling silver, or 10K, 14K or 18K gold in yellow, rose or white. Every metal is fully hallmarked. White gold is shown in the photographs, where the heavy plain shank throws the head into relief.

Ring size

Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond
Yes. It has the same carbon crystal structure, hardness and optical behaviour as a mined diamond and is graded on the same scales by the same laboratories.

Does the ring come with a certificate
Yes. An IGI certificate for the center stone is included at no extra charge.

Why six claws rather than four
On a large round stone six claws support the girdle over shorter spans, which holds the diamond more securely. It is the traditional choice above about two carats.

Do six claws make the stone look smaller
Slightly, because more of the outline is covered. We draw the claws thin and tapered to keep that to a minimum.

Is a wide band comfortable
The inside is domed rather than flat, which spreads the pressure and makes a wide band sit more comfortably than a flat one of the same width.

Can this ring be resized
Yes. The band carries no stones, though a wide band takes more work to resize than a narrow one.

How long does the ring take to make
Each ring is made to order. Allow fourteen to eighteen working days before dispatch.
