Accents where they count

A full pave band spreads sparkle evenly along the whole shoulder. This design concentrates it instead. The small stones sit close to the head on each side, so the eye goes straight from them to the centre diamond, and the rest of the band stays slim and plain. The effect is lighter and more delicate than pave, with a slightly vintage feel.

The accents here total only around a tenth of a carat. They are there to frame the round, not to compete with it.

The round brilliant

The round brilliant is the most precisely engineered diamond cut there is, with 57 or 58 facets arranged to return the maximum light through the top of the stone. No other shape sparkles as much. It suits any setting and any hand, which is why it remains the most chosen engagement stone in the world.

What laboratory grown means here

A laboratory grown diamond is a diamond. It is crystallised carbon with the same cubic structure, the same 10 on the Mohs scale, the same refractive index of 2.42 and the same dispersion as a mined stone. Ours are grown by chemical vapour deposition and high pressure high temperature methods, then cut and polished by hand. This is not moissanite, not cubic zirconia and not a simulant. A gemmologist testing it will read diamond, because it is diamond.

Metals

Choose 925 sterling silver, or 10K, 14K or 18K gold in yellow, rose or white. Yellow gold gives the grouped accents a warm, vintage character, white metal lets them read as pure light, and rose gold softens the look. 10K is the hardest alloy, 14K is the everyday balance, and 18K is the richest colour but the softest metal. White gold is rhodium plated and will want replating every one to two years.

Every centre stone arrives IGI certified

The centre diamond is graded by IGI, the International Gemological Institute, and the certificate comes with the ring at no extra charge. It states the carat weight, the E colour grade, the VVS2 clarity grade, the measurements and the girdle inscription, and confirms in writing that the stone is laboratory grown.

Made to order in our own workshop

Mapple Gems is a family run workshop in Surat, India, where most of the world's diamonds are cut and polished. The shoulder accents are set by hand close to the head and the ring is finished for your carat weight and finger size. Allow two to three weeks for making, plus shipping.

Looking after it

Warm water, mild washing up liquid and a soft toothbrush. Brush around the accents and under the head. Rinse and dry with a soft cloth, and take it off for the gym, gardening and swimming.

Questions we are asked

What colour and clarity is the diamond? Every centre stone is E colour and VVS2 clarity, on every metal and every carat weight. The accents are matched to the same grade.

How is this different from a pave ring? Pave runs down the band. Here the accents are grouped at the shoulders and the rest of the band is plain.

Will a wedding band sit flush? Close to it. The accents sit near the head, so most bands rest neatly alongside.

Can the small stones fall out? It is uncommon when seats are cut properly by hand, which is why we do it in house.

Can it be resized? Yes. The band below the accents is plain.
