What is a cathedral setting

A cathedral setting is one where the shoulders of the band arch upward to meet the centre stone, in the way the arches of a cathedral rise to meet a vault. It raises the stone, adds height and structure to the side profile, and gives extra metal supporting the head, which makes the setting feel substantial without adding bulk across the top of the finger.

Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond

Yes. A lab grown diamond is real diamond. It has the same carbon crystal structure, the same hardness of 10 on the Mohs scale, the same refractive index and the same fire and brilliance as a mined diamond. The only difference is that it was grown in a controlled laboratory over a few weeks instead of underground over billions of years. No jeweller can tell the difference by eye, only specialist equipment reading growth patterns can separate the two.

Are the corners of a princess cut diamond vulnerable

The four corners are the thinnest points of a princess cut, which is exactly why this setting places a prong over each one. With the corners covered the stone is well protected for daily wear. As with any diamond ring, remove it for gym work, gardening and heavy lifting, and have the prongs checked every couple of years.

Does this ring come with a certificate

Yes. Every ring ships with a free IGI certificate for the centre stone. IGI is the International Gemological Institute, one of the largest independent diamond grading laboratories in the world. The certificate confirms the carat weight, the E colour grade, the VVS2 clarity grade and the laboratory grown origin. There is no extra charge for the certificate.

How does a princess cut compare with a round brilliant

A princess cut is a square stone with brilliant style faceting, so it keeps much of the fire of a round while presenting straight edges and sharp corners. Because less rough is lost in cutting a square, a princess typically costs less per carat than a round of the same quality. It also reads as more modern and geometric on the hand.

What does E colour VVS2 actually mean

E colour is the second highest grade on the diamond colour scale and sits inside the colourless range, so the diamond looks bright white with no warm or yellow tint. VVS2 means very very slightly included, the second highest clarity tier. Any inclusions are so small that a trained grader needs 10x magnification to find them and they are completely invisible to the naked eye.

Every piece is made to order, so nothing is pulled off a shelf. Production takes about 10 to 12 working days and shipping is 3 to 5 working days after that with tracked international courier. We accept returns and exchanges within 30 days of delivery on unworn pieces in original condition.
