A princess cut lab grown diamond held in four corner claws above a square hidden halo, carried on cathedral shoulders. The princess is a square brilliant, meaning it has the sharp geometry of a square outline but the faceting of a round, so it produces far more fire than a step cut of the same shape. Its four corners are the one vulnerable feature, which is why each sits inside an L shaped claw that wraps around and covers it. Beneath the stone a square hidden halo follows that outline exactly rather than sitting as a circle under a square, and the shoulders arch upward to meet the head so the ring has real height and a defined profile from the side. The corner claws and the cathedral arches are the only substantial metal on show, so the colour draws the geometry of the ring. Yellow and rose gold mark the four corners clearly, white gold lets the square outline read uninterrupted. For daily wear 14K is harder than 18K and better protects the corners of a princess cut.

What is a princess cut?
A square stone with brilliant style faceting rather than step faceting, so it combines a sharp geometric outline with the fire of a round brilliant. It is the second most popular engagement shape after the round.

Are the corners fragile?
The four corners are the thinnest points of the stone and the part that can chip, which is why each is held inside an L shaped claw that wraps around it rather than sitting on top. This is standard on every princess we set.

What is a hidden halo?
A ring of small diamonds set around the underside of the centre stone, below the girdle. It is invisible from above and only appears from the side. Here it is square so it follows the princess outline.

What is a cathedral setting?
Shoulders that arch upward from the band to meet the head, like the vaulted arches of a cathedral. They raise the stone and give the ring a defined side profile rather than a flat one.

Will a wedding band sit flush?
Not completely, because the shoulders arch upward. A contoured band solves this and we can shape one to match.

Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond?
Yes. Same carbon structure, hardness and brilliance as a mined diamond. Only the origin differs.
