Pear Cut Lab Grown Diamond Solitaire Ring with a V Tip Claw and a Slender Pave Shank

A pear cut lab grown diamond sits with its point toward the fingertip, held by a V shaped claw at the tip and two rounded claws across the wide end, on a slender shank pave set with small round diamonds. The pave stops short of the setting on both sides so nothing crowds the outline of the stone.

Orientation is the decision that makes or breaks a pear ring. Worn with the point toward the fingertip, as it is here, the long axis of the stone runs with the length of the finger and the eye reads the whole finger as slimmer and longer. Turn the same ring around so the point faces the knuckle and the effect reverses: the widest part of the stone now sits at the narrowest part of the finger and the hand looks shorter. The V claw follows from that choice. A pear tapers to a genuine point, the thinnest and most easily chipped part of any faceted stone, and an ordinary round claw would grip it from one side only. A V wraps both facets that converge at the tip and holds them against each other, so the pressure is shared rather than concentrated. Everything else in the ring is then kept deliberately quiet: a slender band, fine pave, and a clear gap of plain metal on either side of the setting.

Band details

The shank is slender and slightly rounded on the outer face so the pave sits along the crown of the curve where it catches direct light. Below the pave the band is left plain, which keeps it comfortable and makes resizing straightforward.

Metal options

Choose 925 sterling silver, or 10K, 14K or 18K gold in yellow, rose or white. Every metal is fully hallmarked. The photographs show white gold, which keeps the eye on the outline of the pear rather than on the metal that holds it.

Ring size

The ring is made to your finger size. Select your size at checkout. If you are unsure, we will send you a printable size guide before we begin work, and we adjust the pave run so the coverage stays even at any size in our range.

Custom orders

We can change the carat weight, the length to width ratio of the pear, reverse the orientation if you prefer the point toward the knuckle, or remove the pave for a plain shank. Write to us through https://mapplegems.com/pages/contact and our workshop will prepare a quotation and a rendering before any metal is cut.

Frequently asked questions

Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond
Yes. It is carbon in the same crystal structure as a mined diamond, with the same hardness and the same optical properties, graded on the same scales.

Does the ring come with a certificate
Yes. An IGI certificate for the center stone is included at no extra charge.

Which way should a pear ring be worn
Most people wear the point toward the fingertip, which is how this ring is built, because it lengthens the line of the finger. It is a preference rather than a rule and we can reverse it on request.

Is the point of a pear fragile
It is the most vulnerable part of the stone, which is why it is protected by a V claw rather than an ordinary one. With a V tip a pear is as durable in daily wear as any other shape.

What length to width ratio do you use
We select pears close to 1.55 to 1.75, the range most people find balanced. Tell us if you prefer a rounder or a narrower outline.

Will a wedding band sit flush
The point extends over the shank slightly, so a contoured band follows the line best. We can make one to match.

How long does the ring take to make
Each ring is made to order. Production usually takes ten to fourteen working days before dispatch.

Why buy a lab grown diamond

A lab grown diamond gives you a larger stone and a higher colour and clarity grade for the same budget, with a traceable origin and no mining. A pear shows colour at the point more readily than a compact shape does, so the higher grade is visible rather than theoretical.
