A pear is the hardest of the common shapes to set well, because it has one delicate point and one broad rounded end, and the two need different handling. The point is protected by a V claw, a single piece of metal folded around the tip so nothing bears on the corner itself. The rounded end takes ordinary claws. The concealed halo does something specific for this shape. Because the halo follows the pear outline rather than a circle, it repeats the silhouette a second time in miniature just below the girdle, which visually thickens the narrow half of the stone where a pear can look thin from the side. Looking straight down the halo is invisible under the diamond, so the outline stays clean and the stone still reads as a single pear rather than a cluster. The shank tapers slightly toward the head so the pave narrows as it approaches the stone, which makes the centre look longer.

Band details

Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond
Yes. It has the same carbon crystal structure, hardness and optical behaviour as a mined diamond and is graded on the same scales by the same laboratories.

Is the point of a pear diamond fragile
The tip is the thinnest part of any pear, which is why we protect it with a V claw rather than a plain prong. Set this way it is no more vulnerable in daily wear than a round.

What is a hidden halo
A ring of small diamonds set into the wall of the basket just under the centre stone. It is visible from the side and from an angle, and invisible when the ring is viewed from directly above.

Which way should a pear diamond point
Most wearers point the tip toward the fingertip, which lengthens the finger. We set it that way unless you ask otherwise, and we can also set it east to west.

Can this ring be resized
Yes. The back of the shank is plain, so resizing does not disturb the pave.

How long does the ring take to make
Each ring is made to order. Allow fourteen to eighteen working days before dispatch.
